Anyone seen The Amazing Spiderman movie yet? How is the movie and is it better than Tobey Maguire's Spiderman (2002) ?
P.S - Thinking to check out the movie this weekend

I thought I it was really good. one of the better superhero films and a lot better than the toby spiderman flicksFrostyPhantasmToby was just too whiny. If I have to hear him whine, "mary Jane, but I love you" one more time . . . .

It's great if you're not expecting a re-write of the traditional origins story.Garfield is better at being spidey I think than Tobey. Tobey was good at the whole working at the bugle/photgrapher/poor peter parker but Garfield is much better at the sarcastic funny spidey. Overall I say Garfield is a better spiderman but Tobey is a better peter parker. But if Garfield came first and was in sam raimi's spiderman I think he would have been better overall.
I give the movie maybe a 7/10. I know they made the Lizard look more human for emotional aspects but I think it would have been cooler to see the good old long snouted lizard as fan service
The actor looks like Edward Cullen. Not watching.NiKva
He looks or acts nothing like Edward Cullen. He's actually a pretty good actor and it's stupid to not watch a movie based on what you just said

Does he develops as a character than what tobey Maguire did in Spiderman ? Does he've good comic timing, innocense as down to earth peter parker?

innocence not so much, I guess he kinda does but not as much as Tobey. he has excellent comic timing and pulls off some great jokes. He does develop I think, he would have to because of what happens and because they gave him the love story and love interest stuff a bit faster and sooner than the other movies he gets some good romantic/heartfelt scenes

Thanks for the info. Really looking forward to catch up The Amazing Spiderman after reading all the positive comments from ya all.
I'll know tomorrow. I bought an advanced ticket for the earliest IMAX viewing, which is at 10:00 AM. Can't wait. It's going to be enjoyable at the very least. I don't expect it to be as good as The Avengers, Prometheus, or The Dark Knight Rises, but I think it will be a good film.

You enjoyed Prometheus? i was kinda dissapointed tbh. Hearing only good things about Amazing Spiderman, enjoy the movie. Hopefully i'll see it this weekend. Also can't wait for Dark Knight rises.
Personally I thought this was better than The Avengers and Prometheus. Much more character development and emotion than the latter.I'll know tomorrow. I liked Prometheus because of its jaw-dropping visuals, its thought-provoking story, and its heart-pumping action (it was quite suspenseful). The main reason why it's hated is because it's so ambiguous (i.e. it fails to answer questions it presents and some of its scenes aren't comprehensisble, such as when David speaks to the Engineer/ Space Jockey [What does he say?]). However, I liked the fact that it was ambiguous because it can be interpreted in a number of different ways, leaving room for the imagination and fun conversations. Also, it leaves plenty of room for a sequel.
As for TDKR, I bought an advanced ticket for an IMAX viewing yesterday.

Prometheus visuals were jaw dropping for sho. But as you said lots of questions were unanswered and the second halve of the movie became predictable.Hope they answer to all the questions in the sequel if they make it.
Enjoy TDKR too man.
I just got back from seeing it. Personally I enjoyed Garfield and Stone much more than Maguire and Dunst. It took a portion of the film to like Garfield as Peter but in the end I like what he did with Parker. He is a much better Spider-Man. Stone was great as Stacy. The writing of the characters were much better and had a lot more development if you were to compare the films. I am excited to see where the writers take the story next as there is a lot of exciting options set up by the film. Swanogt19
Even though I haven't seen it yet, I'm sure it won't compare to Spiderman 2, which was a masterpiece. Spiderman 2 was so touching and well paced/ structured. Spiderman 2 dealt with the following and did so very well:
I doubt that The Amazing Spiderman will compare to Spiderman 2.

Any hopes for future villains?I can assure you it was utilized well in this film. Swanogt19that is what I have been hearing. Even in the much less favorable reviews.

You forgot to mention doc ocks character ( a great and good scientist turning antagonist ) which was a big PLUS in the movie also.

I will not argue that. It must be taken into account that this is the first film in a rebooted series. Some of the emotional events you listed would not appear in this film. I'm not saying that the exact moments will happen if there is a sequel but there is really no place for such emotional events in the first film. Since it is origin of a new series it is pointless to compare it to a sequel of a previous series.

I just got back from seeing it. Is the movie as bad as the trailer?Pittfan666much better. Trailer doesn't do it justice. @indzman: The Lizard was pretty good. I was hoping for some more innerconflict of Dr. Connor but it appears there make be a chance of that is a sequel. We will have to wait and see.
The reason why there wasn't the emotion in the Spider-Man (2002) like there was in Spider-Man 2 was because the first film laid the ground work for the events in the second film to take place. If there is no chance for this to happen in the Amazing Spider-Man why would you try to compare the two? Swanogt19
They could have started the reboot without the origin story. Everyone already knows about Spiderman. He could have been Spiderman from the beginning of the film.

Then everyone would've complained. Please Log In to post.
