In terms of fun, just overall quality/things to do? I live in San Francisco and I love it! very diverse and tons of great things to do plenty of sidewalk cafes and really charming little hole in the wall type places too. I love how its one of those cities I can take someone out to dinner in and we have the option of Thai, Vietnamese, Italian, so many food options! Its also got plenty of colorful characters which means theres never a dull day in San Francisco 8)

Plus the neighborhood I live in (Lower Haight) is a great neighborhood with alot of old school Vinyl shops even though thats not really downtown its pretty much walking distance from downtown

So OT how do you feel about the nearest downtown area to you?

Downtown is okay here, a bit busy at times. I enjoy doing more stuff out of the city than anything.

Surprisingly I think Downtown Riverside is worse than the area I live in but I live almost right next to Lake Hills and Lake Mathews (which are rich neighborhoods) and Riverwalk is directly across the street from me (which is a higher middle class gated community).

Downtown is where everything looks all ghetto-ish and the plaza isnt even great at all, and now that a movie theatre opened 5 minutes from my house there is almost no reason to go downtown ever again.

I'm next to the 3rd largest downtown (geographically) in the states. I enjoy spending time in it (my office is there).

Lower Haight is a pretty healthy walk from downtown though (I say, typing from my home office on 17th about 200' from Castro station)

I guess it's relative. Almost everything in down town san diego, I don't want to do (other than ball games). The place is a dump anyway.

And yeah, sometimes when I'm feeling bold I've walked from the mission over to the piers near the Embarcadero. One thing I love about SF is how ciycle and walking friendly it is lol

I've always wanted that, thats why I want to go to New york or any other bigger city. Where I live if you see someone walking around you usually think "wow did school get out early or something". The sidewalks are typically empty even downtown.

San Francisco is 7 by 7 miles square, so it's pretty dense, and given the paucity of parking, there's a lot of walking and bicycling here. I sold my car when I moved here in 2003 and have rarely missed it.

Downtown Atlanta is terrible by default. It could have all 10 of the 10 coolest things/places/whatevers on earth and the traffic, layout and convenience factor would make them ALL null and void.

I guess its cool though. I mean, who doesn't want a morning rush hour that starts at 5am and runs to 10am when people finally get to work and off the roads. Luckily its only a short period until rush "hour" starts back up again at 3pm and runs to 7 or 8.

Working nights has its advantages i guess. I work in the heart of downtown and i can get in and get the **** out while everyone else is sleeping. I always smile on the way home in the morning as i look over at the 40 mile long parking lot ( aka I-85 southbound ) as i jet north at 70mph.

And all of this is on a normal day. Wait till 2 or 3 sports seasons are overlapping all with home games on the same day while having a festival and a concert all at the same time.

I could keep going in an attempt to do it justice but even with that you would still have to be here to know exactly how much worse it is than i make it seem.

Good ol' Downtown Judy Brown! lol

Its pretty fun! tons of random peddlers though selling stuff to tourists though you can pick up some stuff on the open market here that you can't find anywhere else. Just last week I bought a "Rolex" for what would be $10 US Dollars lol. it even looks the exact same and the funcion is of course the same

Hey if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck. You can dress it up as a hen (Corny line my dad came up with lol :P

I was in NYC this past december. The sidewalks are packed at pretty much all hours of the day and night. I walked all over. From Central Park to the World Trade Center area. Its a pretty crazy busy place. The downtown nearest me is small A few resturants and couple bars and some empty buildings. Nothing at all to do.

Full of drunken natives, druggies, etc. Some parts of it are nice, but not much that I'd like to do. We have a couple bars and a few nightclubs, but that's not really my scene. I do love the little thrift shops downtown, though, and the park (in the daytime, at night it's where the druggies hang out).

Downtown Boca Raton is really boring. There's a place called Mizner Park and its basically a place you go with a full wallet and leave with an empty one... or watch other people empty theirs. They used to have concerts there, but not any more i don't think

Hell if I know, I don't have fun.

Only time I've been down there recently was to escort someone through the town on the worst drinking day of the year. It was a **** hole to say the least.

Downtown Ottawa is nice. Very clean, nice architecture (parliment buildings, Chateau Laurier, the Rideau Canal, etc) and easy to navigate. Not much exitement but overall a great place to live around.

there are bars where you can drink and listen to live music, drink and play pool, drink and watch sports, drink and listen to open mic nights, and just drink. yep, theres a variety of things to do downtown.
