How long did you work at your first job before you quit?

I started my first job in october last year as a cashier and im still working there, i just watched an episode of that 70s show and the dad said everyone quits there first job, so this got me wondering is it abnormal that im still at my first job 8 months later?

I quit my first job (dishwasher at old folks home) after 6 months so I could have enough time to do after school activities in HS.

I worked at a thrift store for a good year and a half. I involuntarily quit though.

Let's see...I got my first job the summer before my senior year in high school and quit the week two weeks before graduation, so it about 11 months at least.

2 years until I got tired and sent my boss to hell for being a bossy bastard.

I worked at McDonalds for almost a whole year back when I was 14. Good god that job sucked.

My first job was working as a salesman at Target. I lasted just over 2 years before I decided it was time to move on.

I worked at Panera Bread for 2 years.

I had my first job for a year before I was laid off... the company went bankrupt. :(

A little over 5 years although before that off and on I did under the table work for independent sales folks.

I started working there on July 26th, 2011 and I'm still working at that grocery store. I'm a bagger/cashier. At the moment I will say I'll stay there until I graduate college but who knows.

I was offered a permanent position at my first job, and ended up working there for 4 1/2 years.

But the management at that place.....and the generally baffling decisions... I just started to have no motivation for the job whatsoever ans was eventually let go. But what can you do.

currently on my first job :D i started this january, i plan to stay and move up, im an Accounts Assistant.

my first job, i worked at Blockbuster for over 6 years, until it closed down (i was probably going to quit maybe a near after if it didn't close down though, but i considered quitting after my 4th year there)

4 months. Cashier at a convenience store, only so I could save up to buy an Xbox in 2002.

I can't even remember. Maybe a year. It was a crappy job working in a woodshop, I came home covered in sawdust every day. Didn't pay for crap either.

A month and a half and it was at GAME. I was only on a short 4 month contract anyway and it was affecting my school work when they began to ask me to work during the week as well as weekends.

I didn't quit my first job; I was fired...after a mere two weeks. I worked as an usher in a movie theater and took too many liberties. During times when there wasn't much to do due to slow business, I'd sneak into a viewing room and watch a movie; I got caught doing this twice. Also, sometimes when I was supposed to be sweeping or doing some other form of manual labor, I'd walk around and do nothing. Now, I must say that I'm not lazy. The reasons that I did these things is becuase the theater didn't get much business; so I was expected to PRETEND to work. For example, if the floors were clean, I'd have to pretend to sweep just to look like I'm doing something.

Not at all. Keep a job as long as you can, quit only when you have to move on or can advance to a better position.

i worked at kroger for nearly 3 years before i was told i could either quit or get fired. i chose quit because the day i get fired from kroger is a sad day, indeed. those f*ckers. the manager at the time apparently had a whole investigation going on in order to try and make me lose my job. i showed up for my shift one day and i got called into his office where some guy interrogated, tricked me into agreeing to pay them back money that i had apparently cost the company (the only reason i agreed to do it was because i thought i would keep my job if i did), THEN told me i wouldn't be able to keep my job. i should have known better than to cooperate with those pricks.

Worked at a Bank for 6 months,Didn't quit but my contract didn't get extended(nice way of saying you fired)
