I haven't measured. I know I can do 1.2 km in 5 and a half, so a mile would take about ~7:30 if we're being optimistic. Accounting for the fact that I'll be tiring out and reducing my average speed constantly, I think I'll realistically manage it in about 8 to 9.
[QUOTE="comp_atkins"]best time: 4:30. spazzx625That would practically make you a world record holder
No, I ran around there in my prime, now I can do a high 4 minute. The WR is in the upper 3:40's, and while that might not seem like a big difference, when your going that fast it is.
[QUOTE="comp_atkins"]best time: 4:30. spazzx625That would practically make you a world record holder not really. just state champ :P world record runners are under 4 minutes easily

State champ at 4:30?
for my hs's group yes. the schools were divided into different groups based on student population. i think the year i won the overall fastest time in the state was like 4:10 or something like that.I'm calling shenanigans on all these 3-4 minute people. For some odd reason I highly doubt people on Gamespot are that fast. I'm more of a long distance runner than a sprinter. But if I were to sprint....5.15 maybe? Maybe 5.30? My top speed is around 11mph, which is great for a guy with short legs. Vandalvideomid to high 4's is not unreasonable to people who train.. even on gamespot. low 4's common for top high school runners and collegiate runners.

I'm well aware of it being reasonable for people who train, but for some odd reason I don't think of training and Gamespot members in the same sentence.
When I was in high school and in good shape, my time was 7:47. Not bad for a 280 pound dude, eh eh?
Now, however, I dont think I could ever run a mile. Speedwalk, sure...run or jog? no
I'm not sure.
Definitely quite a bit faster than that 10-minute average.
I don't believe anyone who's claiming a low 4-minute time.

That is a baseless assumption, I can't anymore, because I do not train distance, but last year i could run a mid 4 minute mile, now i can run in the 4:50s with little training. No one said they can run in the 3's, that would be very hard to believe.
