Recently, I've noticed that many of my rock/jazz band's members (myself included) have previously been in other bands before.

I also have many other musician friends who have been in multiple bands in the past as well.

So if you're a musical person, how many bands have you been in? It seems to be a common thing to drift between many groups as a musician to find the one that suits you.

As for myself, I've had two before my current one. The first never really got off the ground (we were a couple of kids in middle school), and the one I formed in my freshman year of highschool drifted apart once one member (a year younger) became busier as he joined us in highschool the following year.

And one that I put together.

I played Bass for both bands though.

None, and I never will be in one. Mostly because I have no talent, vocal or instrumental.

Just one: a boy band we called Front Avenue Boys or FAB. Yeah, it was pretty epic.

Three

First was in school, between ages 15 and 17, just playing covers. I was the drummer. We were utterly terrible.

Second one was with some friends which was formed after leaving school and before we headed off to university. I was one of two singer/guitarists. It kind of fell apart when everyone went to university.

Third was an acoustic duo I formed with a mate during my final year of university. We were both singer/guitarists, and I occasionally played keys. We played a lot of open mic events, and then did a few gigs ourselves. Again, it kind of fell apart when we both graduated and didn't have as much free time.

Just the one, we played covers in Geelong, VIC pubs in 2003, despite not being old enough to drink.

I've been in two bands, but the second went through a few drummers while I was in it. Aside from those two, I've jammed with tons of people where it was just two of us. [I play guitar.]

Drums require a lot of coordination, speed, and energy. If you're not a high-energy person, the drums aren't for you.

that really depends. i have a mate who's an incredible jazz drummer, but I wouldn't call him energetic by any stretch of the imagination.

i used to play drums and i'm not a particularly high-energy person.

co-ordination though.... yes, you sure need that.

I'm a natural so they aren't hard for me but I've seen so many dumbass drummers that I've determined that yes drums are actually difficult. I'm in my first band right now and we're actually getting close to being signed.I plan on making this into a career if things work out.I'm also getting another group of guys together to form a cover band with on the side.

Yes, that's true. I'm a drummer, and, although I'm very energetic, you don't need to be. However, you DO need to be coordinated, have a good ear, endurance, and MUST be able to keep a beat. And you need to be able to improvise a little, as well.

In my neighborhood a bunch of kids wanted to start a band. One kid would play drums, another kid would play electric guitar (this was before I knew how to play guitar), then another kid would want to play to sing and we would have about 3 back up singers, another kid would play a keyboard, and then they told me that I would play clarinet.

So the band never took off and then I learned how to play guitar and try to form a band but couldn't. So I go uno.

One where I played bass, tried to start another one where I would also play bass, and I just recently started up another where I'll be playing guitar. Although, this current one is more just a way for all of us to learn some new instruments.

I was in a crappy nu metal band when I was 15, playing guitar. A about a year later, said crappy band became less crappy and we started playing thrash metal. After we broke up, I joined a grindcore band (guitar again). The gig didn't last long, and a few months later I joined a punk band, this time on bass. Nowadays I have a solo doom/death metal project which is actually just me singing and playing all the instruments.
