Ok, out of curiosity who goes to the gym on a regular basis ( 3-5 days a week) for weight training? I only want honest answers :P, I really want to see how many people don't fit into the 'Gamer' Stereotype.

Most of my life. 4-5 days a week. But recently I've changed things around. I actually go outside to do my work out routines.. there is a local park near by where I do sprints, jump rope, push ups, and pull ups on the monkey bars. I also do various abdominal exercises. A gym routine is all right but it's good to change things up. When I was beefing up I've been as high as 212-220 pounds.. right now I'm down to 182 and I could probably afford to tone up another 10 pounds.. and be all right.. much more than that though and I'd be too skinny.

I do 6 days a week. I started 2 years ago and it may be one of the best decisions of my life. I also run Track and I play rugby so I stay in shape for that as well.

Never. A lot of kids in my school go but I've never been to the gym and I'm quite happy with the shape my body is in so I don't really see the need either.

I prefer to work out at home. Why pay to lift weights when you have your own body at your disposal?

Never, I'd much rather play tennis or go snowboarding. I wish I'd play sports more often.

I don't. I'm perfectly happy with my slender musculature, and even if I wasn't, there are free and more fun ways to stay fit besides hitting the gym.

Yes there are free ways, but who ever has worked out at a gym and done own body workouts will come to realise that there is no way in hell you can gain the muscle and definition through push ups or sit ups that you can doing weight work outs.

So? Those who stay in the gym their entire life.. get little out of it.. they're fearful to change things up. It becomes almost the easy thing to do. If you go one direction, you limit yourself in the long run. It's almost a fear effect in my mind. I could easily continue to work out at the gym.. continue developing muscle mass.. continue to focus on power, but in doing so I neglect so many other areas.. and this happens all to often with gym rats.

Those who really care about athletics, staying in shape.. look for new ways to challenge themselves. I gaurentee you, not many people who go to the gym regularly could handle the work out routines I put myself through.

so just lift weights at home. it costs about 25 dollars for a set of weights. personally, i can't stand the gym, bad dance music, waiting for machines, running on treadmills, and just well.....boring. i do see how it could be enjoyable if you go with someone else though, it's just my opinion. it's a bit mindless (as is weights).

i think for general fitness the gym is a waste of money. i cycle 10 miles a day to keep myself in shape. for body building though i can see its worth.

Absolutely. The gym is a viable option if you're looking to get into serious strength training and power lifting.. other wise it's really not that necessary.

Distance runners don't traditionally go to the gym as it tends to bulk you up, which is counterproductive. As such, I run and do core workouts daily. You don't have to go to the gym to be in shape you know.

I got to the gym 7 days a week (sometimes twice a day). I lift 4 days, and I run at least 5 days. I also do a few workouts (abs, pullups, etc.) at home .

I lift weights twice a week, and run ever 2 days. If its not cold or raining, I run out side, otherwise it's the 'ol athletic club.

I go to play badminton, but I prefer to get my exercise outdoors, or at home with free weights. Much cheaper that way, and when outside, much more pleasant.

I try to go 4 times a week but something more enticing usually comes up after school. So it varies weekly, I plan on going after school tomorrow but thats always subject to change.

I go to the gym every day, after Cross Country and Track practice. So I typically end up running 6 to 8 miles a day, plus an hour of lifting.

I currently go five times a week. I did more during the school year but now that its summer with a job my times is a lot more limited and since there's a lot more physical labour during my work day I get a lot more run-down before hand.

Why would you lift weights that much as a cross country runner? Wouldn't it be best to avoid bulking up or gaining too much muscle mass? Our coach encourages us to use our school's gym facility about once a week and do core training at home. He's coached 2 state runner up and 2 state championship teams along with many other top 5 finishes in the past 14 years, so I think he knows what he's talking about.

nah gym is a waste of time. i run the track 5-6 days a week.

i have a bench press at home and some free weights that i do 3-4 days a week along with pushups and ab workouts.

when i don't feel like running the track i go play some pickup ball at the park.

I exercise vigorously about 5-6 days a week. I am one of the top runners at my high school, and am running cross country and track in college. And yeah, I have a six pack.:P
