And why do they keep coming? Are they just normal users who get their account broken into because they clicked the links? I think in the last half hour there have been at least 3 that I have seen get their threads taken down and each one had a different account.

When the malignant AI overlord takes over we will all drown in a proverbial sea of spam.

They are bots that are programmed to post links to the site. This wouldn't be a problem if there was a create thread level limit. Or even if they couldn't post links until a certain level.

Do the bots create the accounts on their own or does someone actually have to create the account and then the bots will do the posting?

Also, don't a lot of the bots type in poor English, with their grammar and word order kind of sounding like an Asian immigrant who is still learning English, or perhaps a computerized translation of another language.

Not entirely sure what happened with the level system. But there was a rule in effect that you couldn't post links until you were level 3. This was actually in effect and the text would disappear or it wouldn't link. I'm not sure what happened. But when they changed the html and things for the WYISWYG editor, it effected that.

These bots annoy the site twice the size than piracy. and as a matter of fact these bots suffered the forever-incurable ADHD or should I say, they're infected with the eternal virus by the name of "ADHD.exe" in the new website, they will be outlawed for such misconduct Fooling the ToU is their job, they wanted to make any site as if they owned it

Mostly cabinets in different, specific regions in the UK too, which is odd considering most people on this site are probably American, though there are a lot of Brits here as well.

Is it just me or have these spambots been more common in the past couple of years? I don't remember seeing them in my early days on the site (i.e. 2007).

Do you know what's behind the bot? fellers that used some of my local language and allegedly misused the word as a fake account, that's what,I say it's never a possibru thing to be. Because these fellers don't know anything about online second-hand kitchen site, they do it because of showing off that they live in the UK,but NO THEY AREN'T! They live under a rock made of pork

I wonder why it's become so much more common recently? I think we need to send Stone Cold out on his four-wheeler to hand out a few stunners to these spammers.

9,001 bots, and one poor guy trying to sell a kitchen.

InEMplease

I wonder how the guy is reacting. "Damn, I gotta meet my cabinet quota and the mods keep locking my posts".

Back when I first joine, one had to be a Level 3 before being able to start a thread. Somewhere along the line, that requirment was removed or broken, but looking back, it wasn't this bad before the ToU change.
