How many people know a person that has been fired/laid off recently?

Just out of curosity I just wanted to see how many of OT'ers knew someone who has been laid off or fired due to the economic hard times. My dad was recently fired after working at his job for 15 or so years. Pretty crazy stuff especcially for it being so close to Christmas. And he is acting like it doesn't bother him. You don't need to say why or any personal stuff, just wanted to ask.

I was laid off at Circle K a few months ago because they were closing the store. I make more through Unemployment Insurance. Ask me how I feel about it.

I fired a guy who just stared with us 2 months ago. But that's because he backed a car out of the bay and took the mirror off.

I was fired 4 months ago, but I just found out today that I'll have a job monday :D

I was laid off back in May. I've been seeking a job ever since and I just got offered a job this week pending a drug screening. It's a temp job but I'm hoping it will go permanent.Vic-Ferrari

A Mercedes SL500. In his defense, those cars are junk anyway. But in the beauty of working for a major corporation like Costco, the customer complained to the warehouse manager and she demanded he be fired. Lame.

I was layed off right before thanksgiving (all well was a crappy job unrelated to what I went to college for). my brother just got "officially" layed off today. but he was sent home early on Tuesday, so that's when he was really layed off. job market is friggin terrible. I remember after I got layed off I went to the local grocery store to fill out an app, and they refuse to let anyone fill any more out. what was just a part time HS job for people is flooded with 70 year olds doing it full time.
