How many songs of an artist do you need to call yoruself a fan?

I ask because my friend said I'm not a "real" Pink Floyd fan because I only have 58 of their songs (he said to be a true fan of an artist, you need at least 100 of their songs, or if they didn't do that many you need all their songs). What do you guys think?

Zero...Radio and unpublished songs can still make you a fan.

Hypothetical: a band never releases a CD and you know all their songs by heart. Are you not a fan?

You're friend is a pretentious idiot. If you like band enough to listen to their music regularly, you're a "fan". There's not certain number of songs you have to have/know to be a fan.

The whole 'true fan' thing is a load of crap, it really just depends on how much you like the band. I only have two albums by Nick Cave, but I'd still say I'm a fan of his.

Some bands don't even have a hundred published songs. Anyway for me I have to at least like one album enough. This could vary from several good albums or just one fantastic album while disregarding the others.

I don't think it's possible to determine how many songs you need to call yourself a fan. If you know a lot about the band, or you just generally like their music, I would class someone as a fan.

Nada, I'm a fan of Death Cab for Cutie but I don't have any of their songs, I hear them through Pandora radio.

I'd say if you have around a third of thier music or listen to the music you have by them frequently you're a fan. There's no real way to determine if you're a fan or not though. If you think you're a fan, you probably are.
