I don't really get drunk. Drinking doesn't really affect me that much, i might get a little vision lapse or loose footing, but i've never been "drunk".Apollo5000
Aren't you considered drunk once it becomes impairing?

You aren't considered sober after your first drink but theres a long long road (for some people) to drunk. I wouldn't say it impairs me from doing anything i remember everything, the things i mention only last a few seconds i.e standing up to go to the bar, by the time i'm at the bar i'm fine again...[QUOTE="Apollo5000"]I don't really get drunk. That means you haven't had enough.
Are you stating that as matter of fact? Or are you making a point that he should be drinking more? Or both?

Well i have the same amount as everyone else around me and they get pretty hammered off of it...zero. drunkeness is dangerous, bad for you and immoral/sinful.whipassmtI don't think its immoral. Its not wise, but morally its fine...

Its not wise, but morally its fine...we have a moral responsibility to take good care of our bodies drunkeness goes against this and also is an occasion of evil in that one who is drunk may be more likely to do immoral or dangerous things like drunk driving.

Firstly people do damage or mistreat their body all he time, drinking is a minor outlet for that. Secondally i'm pretty sure Jesus turned water into wine, i doubt it was for pouring into a river. Thirdly drinking doesn't automatically make people bad, it often exposes people for who they really are, but it doesn't change you into a totally different person. Fourthly people don't need drink to do dangerous things, only a fool would drive under the influence i agree but thats the persons flaw not the drink.

Whether or not it is a moral responsibility is up the the individual and on a larger scale, the culture that person belongs to. Besides, there is evidence that drinking in moderation is actually healthy (though there is also evidence that a majority of 18-24 year olds, on college campus at least, drink to the point of alcohol abuse).
I agree with all of Apollo's points above, except 1; that line of reasoning doesn't work for me. Just because something is more acceptable than something else it doesn't become acceptable (though I'm not going to try and argue that alcohol is or isn't acceptable, just pointing out that it's a weird way to make a justification).

I didn't mean it in that way. Just that the body is basically being damage 24/7 if the worst damage someone gets is from drinking once a week its not really that big a threat to them. Please Log In to post.
