I myself know quite a bit mainly a basic understanding how they work, almost all of the terminolgy what goes on the base board and what function the BIOS serves and othe stuff like a basic understanding on how RAID works. My uncle taught me stuff that I didn't know and also learning from an A+ book, of course there is other stuff to learn about them. How much do you know?

Not much. I did know a lot more a couple of years ago, but then gave up on the whole thing.

Fairly enough just a general idea of it, funny thing Im like teh "geek" of the family the one that knows a lot of PC while is just basic stuff and because they suck to try and learn/understand about it. I like to read manuals, etc when I don't understand something about it.

I'm above average I suppose. I built my own computer back in February but as I have never taken a course and am not really sure how all the parts work (Even though I know what they are all for) I wouldn't exactly call myself strong per se.

Well, I know enough about the PC to make a decent PowerPoint and Word document.

But my PC's hard drive just burned out, so I recently got an iMac '08 and I'm trying my best to learn a decent amount about it.

But I am by no means a computer nerd.

I'm happpy enough troubleshooting basic software/OS problems, and I know my way around the hardware pretty well, but I'm more or less clueless when it comes to programming beyond "Hello world".

Me too. I love building computers and repairing my friends computers when they **** up and I got nothing to do, but coding and advance **** like that? hell no. Not me. I tried taking a C++ course and couldn't make it passed a week because I understood nothing. I did learn HTML and a bit of java-script though.

I know enough to fix problems that may occur, or at least be able to research the solution and half understand it. I know some hardware basics too. Enough.

I'm ok with hardware, I help my friends build there systems. I know a bit about the mobos, processors, video cards; but just enough to judge performance. I'm clueless if you ask me about architecture and stuff like that. In software and coding I know basic Java, HTML, and a bit of C++.

Well, I've been using computers since I was 3 years old. I even learned to read using a computer. I got my very own computer for my 8th birthday, and I've had two more since then. Basically, I just mean to say that they've been in my life for as long as I can remember, so I have a pretty solid start. In recent times I've gotten more interested in the way they work and whatnot, and I've been beginning to learn some programming languages. I also like to take them apart and mess around with them. Basically, I have more knowledge than the average person, but I'm definitely not an expert. I'm planning on majoring in Computer Science when I start college in the fall, and I'm pretty excited about that. I hope to end up working with software. :)

I built mine from scratch 2 years ago. So I know enough. I did it because I was tired of the off the shelf computers that come with a ton of software crap to slow down the best ones made.

Quite a lot. My pastime as a kid was going to garage sales, buying old computer equipment and repairing and building computers from those. Back then I wasn't the hottest with software. I could install windows, partition disks, troubleshoot some problems but nothing too crazy. I've gone quite far since then. I really love what programming can do for you but it's too boring. My future is in hardware design.

Plenty about using the net, virus and spyware programs. I can build one, I was once A+ certified and still am fairly proficient with hardware, but couldn't write software code or something that complex if my life depended on it.

I know quite a bit about the hardware part besides RAID. Still looking into RAID though, it would be nice to have a RAID set up. Software is alright, but I could know a bit more.

I am pretty average when it comes to hardware, I can fix most anything that's wrong with the computer (as long as I'm looking at it) and I can program.

I think I suck compared to everyone else though.
