I've been attempting to learn my acoustic guitar for a few weeks now.

I'm thinking I might buy a bass guitar soon though since it just looks easier with only 4 strings.  How much easier is it to play and learn?

I've never played bass , but I have guitar.  So I really couldn't give you a first hand opinion, but I really don't think the # of strings has anything to do with difficulty. I guess all your favorite songs would probably be easier to play on a bass as so many bands just have the bass follow the root note of the chord progression instead of actually using it to its advantage.

Think you should get an electric guitar...much eaisier than a acoustic...and anyways...it takes a long time to become even decent...just keep with it and youll become a lot better...

I really doubt that if hes not willing to stick with the acoustic, that he will stick with the electric. The bass is easy compared to the guitar, although it really depends on what your going to be playing. Sometimes it can be just as hard as the guitar...

I found playing bass to be easier than guitar. I also found it much, much more boring.

Coming from somebody who plays both (started out with an acoustic, got an electric, then got my bass) I can tell you that yes, bass is easier to learn and to play. It is easier to play something that sounds good on the bass. That being said, unless you are a kook, you are going to be playing bass with your fingers (if you play with a pick, you are a wuss in my eyes :P ) Playing with your fingers seems easy to do but if you really want to play something worthwhile you will have many blisters starting out, and your fingers will be far too slow and uncoordinated.

I say continue playing your acoustic guitar. It it easily the most convenient and most fun to play, trust me.
