Assume, of course, that we're dealing with a very long thread with multiple pages (whatever you feel counts as "long"). How much do you want to read?

Just curious.

I tend to look backwards to see reactions from earlier posts that were quoted. Other than that, I only read the original post.

Usually the first two or three pages, unless it's really interesting.

I usually read most/all of the topic, unless its long,
So I usually don't post in hot topics, 'cause their too long. ... with the odd exception, and some polls.

Probably just one page, and then the last page. Then I'll come back and see if there's any quotes or something.

Depends on the thread. Generally the first and last page, but if the topic is something interesting I'll read everyone's comments.

The first page, and sometimes some posts on the last page.

Does that answer your question?

Well it depends on the topic. If its a poll where you just need 1 word to answer, I'll read the first few posts. However if its a discussion type thread I'll read a little more.

If we're talking about pages, I'll usually only read 1 and a half.

If I want to respond to respond to it, I will read every post before responding - no matter how long.

I find it irritating and rude to respond without first knowing if what I am going to say has already been said 50x or if what I am going to say has already been refuted and then I'd just end up looking dumb.

I would like to contribute something useful to a thread - not add my post count.

It honestly depends. Typically, I'll take a glance at the topic title. If the title intrigues me, I'll continue by reading the first paragraph or so. If I'm pulled in, I'll generally read the whole thing, otherwise I'll just peruse it.
