Assume, of course, that we're dealing with a very long thread with multiple pages (whatever you feel counts as "long"). How much do you want to read?
Just curious.

I usually read most/all of the topic, unless its long,
So I usually don't post in hot topics, 'cause their too long. ... with the odd exception, and some polls.

Does that answer your question?
Well it depends on the topic. If its a poll where you just need 1 word to answer, I'll read the first few posts. However if its a discussion type thread I'll read a little more.
If we're talking about pages, I'll usually only read 1 and a half.
If I want to respond to respond to it, I will read every post before responding - no matter how long.
I find it irritating and rude to respond without first knowing if what I am going to say has already been said 50x or if what I am going to say has already been refuted and then I'd just end up looking dumb.
I would like to contribute something useful to a thread - not add my post count.
