Nice racial stereotyping. My school is supposedly in the top 5% of the country. We got about 20-25 people into Oxbridge this year. If we are the top 5% this country is straight up f*****.

Well I've been out of highschool for a while now, but if there's one way I could describe

the school it would be this. If you don't want a broken nose make sure you don't step

on anyone's sneaks. And "nerdiness" wasn't really looked up to highly either.

My school was a fascist, Catholic indoctrination, all male school that never felt compelled to leave the 1950s. Wasn't that bad, because the education was terrific - it just didnt really prepare me THAT well to confront the 2000s

My school ain't exactly nerdy in a common sence. But we do have a lot of.. strange types of which you might call a nerd, of some kind. Anyway my school is one of those you go to if you're 20-30 and haven'y really started your education yet, so yeah.. We do have alot of strang types here + some you really don't want to invite to your home since they might just break in when you're out, and just to be clear, I'm not neither one of those types - I'm rather normal to say it myself :D

I went to a public high school in Wester Australia. There were the typical stupid cliques of - nerds, sporty people, loners, kids who thought that they were too cool for school, bullies, extroverts with everyone etc. In regards to nerdiness, there was one clique that pretty much upheld the trait of being smart. Other groups were largely quite stupid, or average at best. Even though the bullies/idiots may think that the nerds sucked etc back then, it's funny how the nerds/geeks and cool people that were also smart are going to be the leaders of tomorrow and entering professions such as law, medicine, dentistry, engineering etc  I for one will be entering medical school in 2010 or 2011.

Where are the bullies mainly now? Working crappy low-end jobs and aiming for mediocrity in society. Yes... who sucks now? ;)

In addition to my earlier post, even though there was one prominent group that had high self-esteem with good grades etc, the other "cliques" would have this quiet admiration and astonishment at how the smarter kids performed. This was most evident at my graduation ceremony at the end of 2004, when the winners of subject honours were called out to the stage, with the principal saying what the winners wanted to do after high school, and the top universities they wanted to attend... and everyone clapped. I noticed that the bully types all sat there with envy :D

That is quite similar to my school actually. It is rediculously nerdy. For example my grades for last semester were a A,A, A-,A-,B,B-,B-, my gpa was like 3.4 and apparently that was bad. It is freakin annoying having nerdy asians tell you how dumb you are just because you aren't getting A+ for every class. Far out its not like Im trying to get into harvard or anything...

That is pretty much my school about 50% asian, 20% Indian/middle-eastern, then everyything else in the remaining 30 percent. It's a pretty nerdy school, one of the top schools in Houston, but a lot of the kids here aren't actually here for the education. Some just apply to this school because they/their parents are afraid of the other 3 high schools in our district.

My old school was fairly mixed lots of people who care about their grades just as many who could care less people who still play card games in the cafeteria people who can't stand to stay to be in the cafeteria (we can leave the school for lunch) etcetera... I was a festive blend. I did well in school, but I never really studied, I'm an overall nerd but I was liked by most of the school (not an exageration)

I really like the idea of that for some weird reason. The idea of school being festive and not the crushing stress that it is now.

My school is online. Its attendants include: Injured people who can't make a trip back and forth to school. 19 year olds who failed grade 12 by a few courses/need extra credits People who hate school and the stupid people/ ignorant teachers that attend it, and quit to learn on their own (me) people who moved into the area mid-semester Knocked up girls/ girls with babies already (one is just turning 14) Delinquents that no other school wants. Not really nerdy at all. Cept for the fact that I quit regular school partially so I could play games at better times of day.

I study on the 6th floor of a huge University, the second biggest of my State. The floor where I study is for Math, Statistics and Computer Science majors, people from Engineering and physics also take some classes there since most math related subjects are there. Do I really need to say how nerdy that floor is?

You would be amazed by the amount of good looking girls though. :o

My high school was horrible. About 1/3 dropped out, most only wanted to finish but didn't care about grades, and only about 20% actually went to college. Fewer actually finished however. I am one of the very few who wants a Masters degree if not higher... like 2% of the students.

Now sure if I can classify it as nerdy or not, but you NEED to study HARD at my school to survive and even if you do, your GPA will be dismal (all course averages are C's - this is an unofficial policy of the school). I'm sure there are people who still time manage well and have a life outside of school though. I go to the University of Toronto. From Wikipedia:

In the Academic Ranking of World Universities of 2008, the University of Toronto is placed at 24th in the world; by academic subject, it ranks 21st in engineering and computer science, 27th in medicine, 34th in natural science and mathematics, 48th in life and agricultural sciences, and 51–76th in social science. The Times Higher Education ranking of 2008 places Toronto at 41st in the world, 9th in natural sciences, 10th in technology, 11th in arts and humanities, 13th in life sciences and biomedicine, and 16th in social sciences. Toronto is one of five universities in the ranking that places within the top 16 in every subject category. In the Newsweek global university ranking of 2006, Toronto ranked 18th in the world, 9th among public universities and 5th among universities outside the United States.

My secondary school was definately NOT nerdy. It was a crappy state school full of chavs and being clever was frowned upon. I had a tough time at that school. My 6th form college was fairly nerdy i.e lots of nerdy groups. There was still a fair amount of stupid people and ****heads but it was good place and I generally enjoyed my time there. Lol I came out my Citizenship exam and overheard some girl ask her mate what a democracy was  I find that kind of stupid amusing

But I guess we are lucky enough that the most popular people actually get really good grades and are still attractive.

There aren't really any "nerds" at my school, but people also don't look down upon the few nerds there are. You'll find that the bigtime "nerds" are people who are in Latin Club, pep band, and/or science olympiads. There are a lot of smart people at my school, but none of them are "nerdy."

My university is relatively nerdy. In high school, only about 4 or 5 people out of 3200 actually read xkcd, the seminal nerd webcomic. At my university, I'd estimate it to be about 80% who read it. We also have a very active tabletop gaming club.

There's only a handful of students I would actually consider "nerds" at my school, but the school still has a really high ranking amongst other schools in terms of grades because most teachers are extremely slack and will baby people through the majority of the courses : /

Well at my school its not nerdy at all.

Preps/Jocks - some are stereotypical while most are quite awesome

Hardcore/Straightedge/Scene/Anything Similar - pretty cool... most of the videogame players... myself included :P scene chicks are hawt xD

Rednecks - Everyone makes fun of them

Wanksta Gangstaz - lol they fight a lot and we all watch

nerds - not really any stereotypical ones... maybe a few preps who are uber smart.

Weird Kids/Loners - A few but not many.

There are nerds in my school (sends about 10-20 kids every year to ivies out of a graduating class of 1100) but for the most part I'd say the kids there are pretty bad. My school was featured on MTV's high school stories and we're known more of as an athletic powerhouse. Our latest pop-up in the local media was pretty bad though...we had a teacher fired for having a sexual relationship with a student. Not quite the type of exposure any school wants
