I'm going on a trip for a week and the apartment I just moved into is really great, but it has been broken into in the past, according to previous residents.

I am a bit paranoid about it, but I only own 3 things that anyone would ever really want to steal (laptop, game console, small flatscreen TV).

What should I do? Of course I'll draw all the blinds and lock the doors and windows.

I guess I could drop the valuables off at a friends house. I could try hiding them but I think if anyone actually broke in they'd find them anyway.

Maybe I could leave a light on or something so it appears as though someone is home? I dunno.... suggestions?!

Just because the place has been broken into before doesn't mean it will be again. That said, I always leave a light on whenever I'm going to be gone overnight.

Leave in all lights and turn on the TV, they will only go in when they think no one is there. Maybe buy a pit bull?

Get a timer for a lamp and the radio so it turns on and off throughout the day. They're like 10 bucks maximum and sometimes come in multipacks. I would take your valuables to a friend's house.

Alarm stickers.

Put lights/stereo on a timer.

Place a hold on any delivery subscriptions so they wont pile up.

Ask a friend to house sit.

That's a good idea. You friend can pawn them for beer money.

A smart, non-dbag friend, is what I meant. Or leave them with his mom. Whatever is a better idea in OP's situation.
