I need 500 dollars to buy half of the parts I need to build my new computer. I can manage the rest on my own. I have already borrowed 100 dollars from them and I should be finished paying it up tomorrow. I have just started my 2 week march break. I also did tell my parents that I wanted to build a comp sometime in the year. But with job I have right now which is teaching my sister how to read... she only has enough tolerance for about 1-2 hours a day and I make 10 dollars an hour... What do you suggest? How should I ask them, when?

Well definately include a please. Maybe some puppy dog eyes? I'm not sure, $500 is a lot of money, you're going to have to be creative.

Very carefully. hell, i'll be amazed if i can get my allowance a day early when Megaman 10 comes out on PSN, so i may not be the best guy to ask. but honestly, you know your parents better than anyone. i would say spend a week really sucking up to them, doing any housework you see without them asking you and then, move in as you see fit. $500 is a lot of money, so even if you will pay it back in a timely manner, it will likely be hard

Try sweetening them up first.. "Dad, been hitting the gym?" "Mum, is that a new blouse?" ..Compliments don't come free.

You organize a group to sing Money Money Money, all in the typical 70's wear, all with dance, music and such in your house. How are you going to do this? Thats not my problem. Anyway, once you've done that, you break out into song when everybody is in one room, and you all start singing the song, and make sure you're doing the main singing part.
Once it all ends, you ask for the 500.

I don't know your age or anything, but how about you get a job? If you live with your parents saving up $500 shouldn't take too long.

Just ask them that you need the money to buy parts for your computer and you will pay them back when you get a part-time job. If not throw a tantrum and sing that money money song jk.

I didn't had to. All I told them is that I need the money to make my computer and they agree to it. of course it was my first time making one.

Good luck, asking for money is always tough. Just wait until they are in great moods.

How old are you? Get a job. What I mean is, if you're old enough to work and are receiving regular pay, I'm sure your parents would have no problem lending you the money for the time being.

Give them a proposal, detailing how that $500 will go a long way towards your educational needs, as a computer can be essential in developing projects for school. Then give them a detailed plan of how you will pay them back.

Start at 100,000 and just go down from there, stopping at $500.

If you want to build a computer, I would assume that its a possible career choice for you. I think that would be the best way to convince them. Also, if you pay them back it helps a lot.

Just chain your sister down and teach her for a 24 hour period. That'll be $240, nearly halfway there.

Get a job and stop looking for handouts? 500 bucks in not chump change and it is certainly not something I would never of ask my parents for so I can buy a luxury like a gaming computer.

I personally would not ask them. Try getting a job instead. I would never borrow that amount for something like that.

Well you'd go like this. Mom, dad, I'm a big man now so.... On second thought, $500!?!? You're better off working for that.

I'd just ask for it since they know im good for it anyway. Depends on how much they trust you I suppose.
