Hey, 17 year olds unite! 8) Anyway, I get a small allowance for doing my chores and not neglecting my studies (basically, not failing school). Might I recommend asking to do odd jobs around your neighborhood? For a 17-year old in school, there isn't a lot that you could do concerning even part-time jobs at a lot of stores (I speak from experience, but your neighborhood might be different). Good luck! Also, if you're quitting an MMO and have an incredible account, sell it. ;) Just kidding.

Begging/panhandling is the only way to make money without working for it. And are you going to have a job by the time you buy the car? Because the upkeep will require it.

I dunno about all states, but in California you need to be 18 or older to buy one.

I don't think there's too many people willing to just hand out free money to you with you doing nothing to earn it.

Well yeah I need to get a job by the time I have a car I'm just hoping to have enough for the downpayment by the time I hopefully hit a job, and I was thinking of selling things but I don't know what, I get video games like 5-8 dollars cheaper I was thinking I could sell those but its not much profit -_-. I also do get an allowance but it would take forever to save 2500 up with the amount I get haha.

Well, a car is a pretty huge investment for someone without a steady income (as in, an adult with an actual full-time job). I'm not saying what you should get and what you shouldn't get, but a car is... pretty big. The only people my age that I know who have cars are very wealthy.

Also, you need to think about insurance, gas, and potentially getting it repaired. That will add up really, really quickly.

Do they really ID for lottery tickets? Last I knew most stores only looked if you tried to cash one in.

I was looking to lease it by cosigning with my dad because with the 3000 down payment (I have 500) itll be 180 a month which is affordable and I'll have help for insurance so its not too bad

Take online jobs dude. It can generate money and your age won't matter.

Are illegal jobs still real jobs? I'm not suggesting that you use that as a loophole in getting money illegally.
