I tried to make pasta earlier and I must of mis-judged the water to pasta ratio, i've never made pasta before so this is new to me. I usually microwave my foods. I thought pasta was easy to cook but I guess it requires a masters degree in the culinary school

here is what I made earlier I had to slice it up like a pie and eat it, i have s tomach ache now I think I might of made it go bad or something

i tried to make it al dente because it sounded really italian and tasty but didnt work ANY advice is appreciate OT  thanks in advance

You boil water then dump the pasta in the water. Cook for like 8-10 min and you are done. How in the world can you mess up pasta that bad? You should have at least 2x water to pasta.

>how to make pasta

Wat?

Just throw it in a large pot of water and cook for around 15 or so minutes (a few minutes less for al dente) and just stir it at the beginning and halfway through.

That's not how you do it,you'll end up in a toilet for that first-try here's the second chance to do it 1. Proper ingredients and mix well 2. Knead them well 3. Use a pasta cutter/grinder if you have one 4. Boil it

Those noodle in the picture definitely don't look like hand rolled pasta noodles. They are far to small and round to be hand made. They were definitely machine made.

Step one: Put water in a largish pot Step two: Heat the pot to a boil. Step three: measure out how much pasta you want. Generally not a good idea to use the whole box if you're only feeding yourself. Step four: When water is boiling, salt it. Step five: Put pasta in and follow how long the box says to cook it. Step six: Stir pasta occasionally Step seven: When time is up, drain the water. Step eight: Put on plate, put sauce over it and eat. At least, that's how I make it. Never had problems with it.

buuuwaaaa ha ha ha ha ha... omg.  HA HA HA HA

Follow the instructions on the box.

Boil 5-6 cups of water..

place pasta in uncovered.

add a pinch of salt or a 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil

boil water for duration as describe on box... 10 -12 minutes.

take a skillet and heat it up on medium high for a minute or two when pasta is just about ready.

DRAIN PASTA IN A COLLANDER

gets some pasta sauce and place some, not all, in the skillet.

stir in pasta and saute for about 1-2 minutes.

** Cook meat seperately and fully.  I dont want to be accused because you poisoned yourself.

Done.

Another tip is to add a little olive oil to the cooking water, that makes your pasta less sticky.

Jeez I kinda don't know what to say. Did you read the directions on the box?

Pasta from box = not from scratch.

Flour, egg, water etc = from scratch.

Use enough water, and make sure you stir several times to prevent a lot of clumping. A little of olive oil can help too.

Well, from the looks of the picture, you didn't stir it enough, and you cooked it too long.

No.  If you fry something thats wet it could explode if done wrong.  Not sure what you consider frying... but if you failed at boiling pasta then please dont try and fry something... boiling oil and boiling water are two different things.

You will also get fat from eating fried foods..

Just use google.

I have never seen someone f*ck up something so simple. You should probably bubble wrap yourself and get a good strong helmet, because you're an accident waiting to happen if you can't even manage to make pasta out of a box...

I could make pasta on my own when I was six, and it only took that long because my parents didn't want me touching the stove any younger than that. I have to assume you`re joking because putting honey on a gob of ruined pasta sounds absolutely disgusting.

If you are using boxed spaghetti like that, you need at least a 4 quart stock pot and fill it with at least 3 quarts of water, an 8 quart stock pot is better filled with 4 quarts of water. Add a bit of salt and you can also add a tablespoon of olive oil to help keep it from sticking. Once the water boils, add the pasta and boil for at least 7 minutes, the box will tell you both how much water and how long to boil it actually. As I typically use vermicelli, the cooking time is 6-7 minutes in the previously stated amounts of water.

Once time is up, as stated previously, drain the water in a collander as stated before (a plastic one is best). Put the drained pasta in a bowl or back in the pot you boiled it in and add oil to further help it from sticking. Remember that if you do not drain the water from the pasta, it will keep cooking and become a gooey mess like you had in your picture.

Now, if you want to make homemade pasta or other pasta dinners, the Food Network website has pasta recipies.

Sprinkle some water over it in a bowl, stir, pop that **** in the microwave, and serve. Or you can make real pasta. You just get some cheese and tomato sauce, microwave those noodles/spaghetti, throw that tomato sauce with the cheese in the microwave, and mix it all up in the bowl to get that lumpy texture. Now you ready to serve.

Wow, I was actually expecting questions on some complicated pasta like Carbonara, Tortellini, Tagliatelle or something like that. But you seriously can't boil simple spaghetti?! No sauce? Just the damn spaghetti? You get instructions on the pack. I'm a 20 year old dude and I can make some killer pasta. Also, as a European I find it strange to eat simple pasta. Is it ok in the US?

That's a shame. I like to experiment a lot with the sauce. While the pasta boil, just throw something you think would taste good in a pot and boil it as well. @TC Try this: Put some meat (bacon bits are probably the easiest way), onion (sliced obviously), mushrooms in the pot along with some oil. After a few minutes of cooking add a lot of tomato sauce (Ketchup works as well) and just boil it a for a few minutes (usually until the pasta is done - follow the damn instructions this time). It's not hard, you just have to use your brain to judge the quantities and pay attention to what you're doing. God, I'm hungry right now.

That or just buy some Classico or Prego pasta sauces and heat those up as the water boils before adding the pasta.

if thw pasta is from the bag ... 1) boil into salted water for at least 10 minutes ... or Al-Dente (texture) 2) drain water ..... do not rinse .... but add oil ... to make those pasta not stick to each other ... 3) ... the sauce is up to you ........ I suggest some indian curry

Boil, put salt in, dump water after alloted time, but before dumping, take some of the water out. Then dump it, and put some of the pasta water into the spaghetti and put in the sauce. Also, put a shit load of salt.

Spaghetti should not be watery at all. That is one reason why I do not normally get spaghetti when I go to an Italian restaurant. The pasta should always be drained completely. Â
