Hey all, so I was pretty fat and didn't play many sports except some martial arts and a little football in high school. After high school I decided I was tired of being a fatty and I needed to lose some weight to get chicks so I went from 230 lbs to 175 with a lot of muscle from working out. So here I am at 21 years old after about a year of letting myself go drinking tons of beer and eating pretty unhealthy and lacking in exercise I'm back up to 210 pounds. I am 5 feet 11 inches tall by the way. Anyways, I plan on losing the weight again but I wonder how bad this is for my body to be changing in weight so often and what can I do to keep motivated to exercise regularly ? Thanks for any help.

I can't show you the research or provide proof but I would imagine it would be a strain on your heart to keep yo-yo'ing back and forth from heavy to thin. Thats just my guess though. No idea for certain

Head to the gym and start working out. If you have a healthy diet and work out consistently you'll be much fitter

Play sports that you enjoy. Gym is good for losing weight, but it's really hard to keep going and maintaining the physique.

depends on how much stress you're putting on yourself loosing and gaining this weight. If it's a natural progression it's not to bad, if you're pushing yourself to be in top shape in no time, then turning around being a lazy hedonistic slob then it's bad.

A good way to stay motivated, as another user said, is to choose an exercise that you like. It also helps if you get into long-term relationships and activities that require being in good shape (other than exercise itself). This way you have more reasons to stay in shape, making you less likely to falter. A little willpower wouldn't hurt, either.

Thanks, yeah it just gets hard I always hit the gym for like a week or two then stop going for another week or two because I get lazy. Very bad habit.

Here's an extra hint: Once you get into shape, get to the beach and get two girls on either side of you and have someone take a picture. Take that picture, copy it, and put it on your fridge, on your pantry door, and by your computer. Now let's see you falter. Heck, the picture wouldn't even have to be of yourself. You could have a friend, or even an in-shape celebrity to look at for motivation. A fictional character could work, too. With willpower, for instance. If Batman is your kind of, oh what am I saying? Everyone loves and many aspire to be Batman! Could you imagine Batman with his iron will succumbing to a batch of chocolate chip cookies? Of course not. Be like Batman. Be strong. Seriously. It helps, crazy as it sounds.

May I ask how long did it took you to lose all that weight and what exactly did you do?? I was in a similar situation back in high school I'm 19 and I went from 250 lbs to 180 I'm right now at 195 doesn't show up a lot but I feel a little heavier. So how long did it took you the first time?? Oh and about your answer it is not unhealthy, unhealthy would be for you to keep up that routine (or lack of one for that matter). As long as this weight loss remains for a while and not a six month thing then it's ok go ahead and excercise
