The last album by your most favorite band. Tell me your opinions about it. I'll start

Day and Age - The Killers

I think its a pretty good album. At first i was like Wtf is this? it took a little while to realize just how good of an album it really was. So many sweet sounds and catchy choruses, and Dustland Fairytale is one of my favorite songs ever :)

Two favorite bands: NERD and Radiohead. The latest albums from both of them were among their best works.

Thrice-Beggars, I found it to be pretty great. It really shows how much the band grown over the years IMO.

Velvet Acid christ - the art of falling apart. This record is very different from his previous stuff. with the exception of a few heavy synth tracks, the whole album has it's roots in alternative and gothic rock.

Psyclon nine - we the fallen. P9 has evolved a lot since their creation in 2002. creating 2 harsh EBM albums, then moving into the style of industrial Metal. this new album definitelyshows they have evolved, but maintain what makes them awesome.

I like how both these bands maintain their signature sound while not making the same album over and over again.

Korn - Untitled

It was a more progressive step and it is a great album.

Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings

One of their best albums and the best album I've heard all year.

Queen - Made In Heaven

I haven't heard it yet D=!

cynic-traced in air. they expanded on their last album to great results. it was only about 30 minutes, but its a compact intricately woven 30 minutes. its more texturally diverse and a better application of harmonics. they combined their aesthetic into composition which gives a pulsing rage underlying the whole album that erupts and subsides throughout.

If you consider Heaven & Hell to be Black Sabbath just under a different name (which they basically are), then the album is The Devil You Know, which I loved. Probably 9/10.

^ incredible album, i don't think it'll ever get the props it deserves. listening to wings for marie always raises the hairs up on my arms

"fetch me the spirit, the son and the father, tell them your pillar of faith has ascended
its time now, my time now, bring me my wings"

+1

they're not my "favorite" band but that is a pretty killer album

death magnetic.... not bad, but not great and thats what i expect from metallica. since their record contract is up i'm hoping the next album is self produced and self done so i can hear whether or not they'll be back to form.

Van Halen III oh Van Halen III. In classic Van Halen style the lead singer was dropped but instead of David Lee Roth coming back we received Gary Cherone. He really isn't that bad of a singer he just tried way to hard to be Hagar and it didn't work. Plus other than the single Without You the album was a mess. Instead of track about Women and Partying there were songs about political situations and stuff. Sounds good since the previous 10+ were about the first but it wasn't executed well it all. This album completely derailed Van Halen for about 10 years until Roth now came back and Eddie quit drinking. Hopefully they will come out with something new to remove this mess as the last true album(Best of Both worlds was a greatest hits, doesn't really count).

Crashlove by AFI: 2.5/5

Predictable songs

Boring lyrics

Uninspired overall songwriting.

HOWEVER, I've been extremely into Converge lately so

Axe to Fall: 4-4.5/5 so far.

Varied songs

Great riffs and solos

Complete change of direction on last 2 songs

Lots of guest musicians that help diversify the sound

More experimental

The Resistance by Muse wasn't what I expected. I found that most of the songs were too soft and lacked the heavy riffs from their older albums.. so yeah I was a bit disappointed. :(

I was watching South Park last night (there was nothing on). It was the one where Stan had become goth because Wendy broke up with him.

Look at his shirt.

Rage Against The Machine - 30 For A Revolution was arguably the best compiliation EVER.

System Of A Down - Hypnotize was much better than Mezmerize. Not as good as Toxicity, but still good. :D

The Incident by Porcupine Tree.

It was more consistant than Fear of a Blank Planet or Deadwing, but I don't like it as much as I liked In Absentia or Stupid Dream. Still really good, though.

It not as tight as "Carnavas". I felt that Swoon was too short of an album.

The Incident- Porcupine tree

I loved it, some say it was too hit and miss but I loved every second of it. I thought it was more consistent than Fear of a blank planet. One of the best albums of 2009, and my 4th favorite porcupine tree album after Lightbulb Sun, Deadwing, and In Absentia.

Psyclon nine - we the fallen. P9 has evolved a lot since their creation in 2002. creating 2 harsh EBM albums, then moving into the style of industrial Metal. this new album definitelyshows they have evolved, but maintain what makes them awesome.

dissonantblack

You might like Havoc Unit. They came from ...And Oceans, who you might also know as an EBM band. I like Havoc Unit a lot but I'm not too fond of most newer industrial metal and a lot of newer gothic metal bands. It's like all the good, older doom metal bands go gothic eventually for no reason (Katatonia). I guess it's sort of a new trend-following thing for some bands since gothic is a relatively new genre in metal compared to doom, black, death, etc.

I really like Opeth, and their last album Watershed was kind of disappointing. It was really bland after the first 3 tracks (not counting Coil). Their metal parts almost sound forced now, although they have a few good (metal) songs here and there.

The Slip By NIN. Very good, and free as well. Not my favorite NIN album, but for one that's free and was put together quickly it's held up well, before that Ghosts I-IV by NIN a few months before was brilliant, IMO.

Which was simply incredible :)

The Smiths are tied with Sonic Youth for my favorite band of all time. The Eternal by SY was a great album which built upon what Rather Ripped had set while still showing a lot of love to fans of the band's older records. It's my second favorite album of 2009, #1 being Actor by St. Vincent.

Band: Hurt - Album: Goodbye To The Machine. Personally my favorite album they have come out with out of all of them. I highly recommend them to people that like meaningful lyrics and great music. "Wars", "World Ain't Right" and "Got Jealous" are probably my favorite songs on that album.
