That is England's bread and butter sport. Is the USA getting better or is England getting worse? Or did the USA just get lucky? Combination of any of those?

If anyone actually watched the US play, they would know that it was just luck.

One of the worst goaltending gaffes in the history of the World Cup [needs citation] is how. The US lost 2-1 to Panama a few days ago.

Because the U.S team is better than they are given credit for... Yeah our strikers are AWFUL (hopefully juan agedelo can change this) but we have a great mid field and awesome goal keepers.

Plus England puts way too much pressure on their players.. They have the premier league, the F.A cup, the champions league and ALL this stuff to worry about and they expect them to win all the time.. It doesn't help how competitive their league is by bringing in all these foreign players and how great pretty much every team is they have to fight to win every game, and there are so many competitions that by the time the WC rolls around they are just tired...where as a team like barcelona which is where 90% of the Spanish national team comes from, can take a nap and win 3-0 against pretty much any team except Real Madrid.

Anyhow, why just pick on the U.S here?...Better question is how did England draw 0-0 with Algeria in the WC?....

They need to get rid of Bob Bradley and his kid. They are awful. It takes bob bradley like 88 minutes before he realizes his strategies aren't working and should change formation and make some subs... Plus the players he decides to play and decides to bench or keep on or take off the nation team make absolutely NO SENSE..

Well the goal the USA scored was the goalkeepers fault...

Plus that England squad (like all the others since 1966) massively underperformed and disappointed as they usually do in tournaments. It really wasn't a shock to us tbh.

The defenders aren't much as a whole. Every match I watch Howard (who I think is really good, for what my opinion is worth) has to verbally correct his defense after they give up an opportunity. I don't think the US has the forwards or the defenders to be serious contenders. I'll agree that they're better than people think, but they've a ways to go I think.

On paper we should have done better than we did, but tbh we (England) were just appalling, just as they were in the previous world cup. Weight of expectation doesn't help, but really fair play to the US - they're not a bad team all in all. In the world cup there's awlays an upset or 2 in the first round mind you.

One of the main problems is that players these days place club above country. 20 years ago players would give their right arm to wear an England shirt; these days players would rather retire from international football and focus on the team that pays their wages. Sad, but true...

I'm from Panama and I saw the game a few days ago. Of course I was rooting for my team but in truth I didn't expect much and neither did the general audience because I'll admit it, we don't consider Panama a strong football team. I was quite surprised when I saw the 2-1 result in favor of Panama and though I would like to say it's because we are getting better and improvingI can't because it is not the case, in fact USA wasn't on it's best shape that day and I would say it's because of the technician/coach whatever is his title. He kept forcing his strategy and took to long to realize it wasn't working.

The USA players are very good, but I feel like the coaching may not be the best. Now that I've explained why I think USA lost to Panama I'll answer your question about the match against england.

England isn't getting worse, in fact remains as a strong team and a force to be reckoned, USA while having good players don't have a strong strategy while on the field and this has proven to be a disadvantage as we saw in the vs Panama game. The reason why the match ended in a tie, is because of luck, while USA played impressively England could do much more on that game. If England had played 100% I believe the outcome would've been different.

England isn't very good at the moment. Still better than the USA, but everyone who watches football can tell you that anything can happen during a match. It's silly to draw conclusions based on one match. If England were to play the USA 10 times, England would probably win like 7 times and draw the rest.

I just think English players gave up after the 86 WC lol... BS like that seems to just happen ever time since then.. National football just seems to be so full of cheating corruption and a laundry list of other issues I am not surprised the players have lost interest. It has gotten to the point where their just seems to be so little honor in it anymore because even if someone doesn't cheat or whatever which seems to happen ALOT...people bring up excuses or find ways to discredit them as to why they didn't deserve it.. (I know that it sucks for England fans but as a US football fan its only magnified by 1000%... any time we do ANYTHING right in the sport all that follows it is a non stop onslaught of hate from all directions as to why our team didn't deserve something or how we just did something on dumb luck lol)

Also what doesn't help England at all is the fact that FIFA seems to have a personal vendetta against them and I don't think England will be going anywhere until something changes in that insanely corrupt and ridiculous organization.. Loosing hosting the WC to russia must have hurt... But just remember.. we lost hosting it to QATAR.... a country that doesn't even have any stadiums yet and has an average temperature of 115 degrees during the summer, a population of less than 2 million people that will have pretty much no safe way of policing this event in any form... oh well lol.. Just with all this bs I can easily see why players are like screw this I am just playing club football.

USA has potential and England had to much pressure along with Capello making bad decisions. I mean you have to be utterly stupid to leave out Walcott in a World Cup. One thing USA needs to bump is defense marking men and forwards...........forwarding in general.

Yeah I am and I have to agree.. Sadly lol.. The US is the other favorite in this thing but we don't have any player better than Chicharito... and our terrible coach isn't helping any.

But weren't like 5 of their players found taking illegal substances?.. and if so are they going to get suspended because they could kill them. but I haven't heard of anyone actually getting suspended or anything

Except when I said it was luck, I was denigrating our (America's) awful soccer team. England's team wasn't spectacular, but by no means should that have happened with the US in the World Cup. It was luck.

Firstly it was luck. Although England had better individual players on paper, they just played terrible as a TEAM. A problem that persisted further in the past 2 decades. Too many egos needing fulfillment in one team. Oh and...Gareth Barry and James Milner are overrated. Doesnt help that England had terrible bench players either...
