What the OP describes isn't though. Female characters in anime are often specifically designed to have such an appeal.
Finding an animated girl hot isn't neccessarily weird or anything. After all there are plenty of anime girls specifically designed to be unrealistically sexy, beyond normal capabilities.
However there are certain circumstances where its wrong like lolli and furrys just sound bad albeit I don't know what they are and I really don't want to know....
If anyone ever said they were in LOVE with an animated character, then they surely have issues....
I think anime girls are cute, but I also know that real girls cannot look like anime girls.
One real girls with different color hair besides the natural colors sometimes look odd. Girls hardly grow their hair to the length that reaches the small of their back. They have proportioned eyes and proportioned mouths. Real girls generally do not uppercut guys who annoy them or ones they have crushes on and if they do we dont go flying high into the sky, through doors, walls, etc. Real girls do not have abnormal strength and still look petite unless they had intensive training in tai chi quan or other martial arts. Most important fact, you can date a real girl, use all your 5 senses to acknowledge that they are real, and impregnant them in order to carry on your generation and the human race.

What is wrong with having a fantasy about an unnatural thing or illegal act? Any sex therapist will tell you nothing is wrong with it. It is acting upon those fantasies or letting them consume your life that would be cause for trouble (in the case of the illegal ones).

If they can prevent themselves from acting out on those fantasies then who are you to tell them what they should or should not be able to fantasise about? Sure, there is obvious room for concern about their psychological state but it is what floats their boat and as long as there is no real-world action, then there should be no real-world consequences. The depths of the human mind are vast and some people reach far deeper into the ugly recesses then others.
Cute? Nah, no problem there... even if you were to say "she's a pretty character," still no big deal. It's when you start having feelings for the person beyond what you should have for any character in a story (example: I can feel sorry for an anime character the same way that I can in a videogame, movie, or book) and start to "love" them the way you should a real person that it gets weird.

I am more concerned about what you said, "What is wrong with having a fantasy about an unnatural thing or illegal act?". It is wrong, about the illegal part, and yes some people can't help it, they could just born that way, but that doesn't make it right.

Have you ever thought or pictured in your mind doing something illegal, whether stealing, murdering or whatever? I'd bet most people have, whether they want to admit it or not. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it legally. Acting out upon those thoughts is when it becomes a concern. Sometimes we have to go over different scenarios in our minds to choose the best one for the most effective and proper course of action. Sometimes that could mean going over something less than "proper."
Like I said, the human mind can be a unusual and daunting place for us all. Sometimes we see things that we have been taught by society to be wrong. Somethings that completely freak us out and make us question our own morals for having such thoughts. As long as it stays in the mind and does not affect a persons daily routine, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it...
I've met several people in my life, who would prefer to go out with an anime character instead of a real life girl. I don't call them weird, I call them something else. And I'll get censored for it so....

I'd have to say it isn't surprising. Psychologically, the brain sees a human form and classifies it as attractive. However, obsessing about it is weird. I personally find catgirls to be unattractive because it's essentially a human/animal hybrid. Chimeras just don't turn me on. My mind says "fuzzy ears and a bushy tail are a no-no".They're cute in an "aww, that puppy is cute" sort of way.

It doesn't float my boat but if it does someone else, who am I to judge them? It is their private fantasy. As long as they keep it to themselves then I have no problems with it.
