I barely know what they look like. I didn't even know my neighbor had a teenage son until a couple weeks ago, and I've been living next to them for three years.
I live in an apartment that have been owned by my parents for decades, so naturally friends and relatives moved next door over time. Now almost the whole building is like one annoying, intrusive family.
That's whats wierd about NYC. Every residential community is separated into specific groups. Jewish people live in one area, West Indians in another. One neighborhood would have nothing but people from one part of Italy. Its like ethnic segregation.
Not at all. I know one family that lives down the road but other than that I have never spoken to my neighbors. In my old neighborhood I knew all my neighbors really well and my best friends were their kids.
In my old neighborhood, i lived in a cul-de-sac and we were all very close. Everyone had children and we constantly had cookouts and big kickball games. In my new neighborhood, I barely know the names of my neighbors. I probably never will because I am in college now.
One next door neightbor is like my grandmother, I mow her grass and go over to visit like every week. Across the street, we are good friends, but not so much as our next door neighbor. Our other next door neighbors are pretty much total strangers.
He´s a very active abstract painter, he has a sizeable collection of b-movies themed around zombie infestations going all back to the black and white era, and he has ADHD, all in all making him near-ideal buddy material to me.
I´d like to believe that i´ve gotten to know him quite well during the past couple of months.
The other one is big on tabletop warhammer 40.000, and also paints his figures himself, when not spending the remainder of his spare time watching classic science fiction movies. We have become well acquainted with eachother, since we take turns inviting eachother over for DVD marathons every now and then.
I barely know them, but those above me have sex like monkeys, when they start it, damn, I turn my iPod on, so loud... The ones in front of me are a married couple, both are in their sixties I think.. And there's also this lovely family, a husband, a wife and their son..I've been to a soccer game with them, they are nice guys... There's also this guy below who my mom got into a fight with, but he doesn't live here...He's a douche.
lol I kinda know them. I know that the guy infront my house is a pervert, he watches porn when his wife falls asleep (she faked it once to proove that he did watched porn) I also know that the daughter (she is an adult now) of the neighboor in front of the street beated the crap out of her grandma. I know that the girls who live next to my house live in this neighborhood because their dad was a lunatic who wanted to beat them and If im not wrong rape them, they camed here with their grandma. and around 5 people who live at thenext corner are my family
Most of the people in my neighborhood are either elderly or they're young families. I'm an 18-year-old freshman in college who's still living at home. I don't have a lot in common with my neighbors, but we can exchange small talk every once in a while and do just fine. They're all pretty friendly.
