My dad pretty much got into the whole rock and metal scene at a younger age, we were always listening to bands like Deep Purple, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.
I was watching Fuse one day, and a coheed video started playing, I ridiculed them for a while, then I started listening to them, then they grew on me, then I saw them live and fell in love
Lets see... I was introduced to SA by a few friends on a forum another friend (who isn't a fan) posts in. Those guys (and one gal) were British if I recall. I know of only one person (in real life) that I communicate with on a fairly decent basis that knows of SA. Parents don't count.

wait....you don't see music? Then how do you experience it?
My mom was a Chili Peppers fan, so I listened to it when I was with her. Eventually when I started buying my own cd's, I got Bloodsugar Sexmagik (one of the older RHCP albums) and I knew that it was obviously the best album ever created, and that they're the best band ever assembled.
My other favorites are The Killers, I heard Mr. Brightside and went out and got Hot Fuss, and became a huuuge fan.
I listened a lot to Marilyn Manson when I was younger, and he said he liked Queens of the Stone Age, which probably is why I checked them out. They've been my absolute favourite band for years now.
