There's an "Anti-Hero" which is like a cross betwen a hero and a villain, though I'm still unsure if there's a complete definition for it. However, what makes an "Anti-Villain"?:P

This is for comic books, in particular. Are there any such Anti-Villains?

just another villain where villain A's plans interfere with Villain B's. I dont' really know of anything like that, but i could see such a scenario around Kingpin.

An anti-hero is like a guy that seems bad but does good things not because they're good but because he gets profit from it.

So... an anti-villian would be a.. villian?

anti-hero is someone who grudgingly does the right things for whatever reason, but is more like a villan in personality, im not sure that can be such a thing as an anti-villan.

Someone on the "bad" side, but has certain heroic qualities and virtues

Magneto comes to mind.

Would the anti-villain be one who, in the course of his life, inadvertantly does evil although his intentions are otherwise?

I can think of a few examples of anti-villains if that's the case, but I don't honestly know if they're merely bumbling or actually trying to be evil.

if you've watched Lord of War, the agents can be seen as "anti-villians" of a sort.

Yeah Magneto is a good "anti-villian." His ultimate goal is good, but he goes about it in the wrong way.

Well, apparently an anti-hero is "a protagonist or notable figure who is conspicuously lacking in heroic qualities."

So I suppose the most sensible thing for an anti-villian to be would be something like "an antagonist or notably unpopular figure who is conspicuously lacking in villanous qualities."

After thinking about this for several minutes, the best anti-villian I could come up with for a certain segment of the popuation (of which I realized you are a part of after I came up with it, OP) would be Michael Moore.

I was trying to think of a fictional example, but I couldn't come up with any that seemed entirely adequate. The best I had was Ned Flanders.

the oposite of an anti-hero...an anti-hero does the wrong things for the right reasons, and anti-villain would do the right things for the wrong reasons (so basically a failure as a villain :P)

Nothing, just that I think you are going for the OT record for most anti-Democrat threads created. :P

"An anti-villain is a character in a film, drama or literary work who pursues undeniably villainous ends, but employs methods that are arguably noble in order to advance his interests. Thus, the anti-villain is the converse of the anti-hero, who frequently resorts to immoral means in pursuit of an admirable goal. An anti-villain may commit serious crimes, such as murder; alternatively, his actions may only be considered "villainous" because they come in direct conflict with the story's protagonist."

I trust Meriam-Webster over Wikipedia (i.e. unknown people whose only known common trait is a desire to post to Wikipedia).

Here's my understanding of the two things.

An anti-hero is a guy who is an awful person and does bad things, but you still cheer for him anyway because he's likeable. Good examples include Wiley Coyote from looney toons and Riddick from pitch black and the chronicles of riddick.

An anti-villain is a guy who is actually a good person, but you're just not meant to like him.
