How would you rate John Mayer's guitar ability?

I would ask you to please refrain from the "John Mayer is mainstream so he major SUXORS" comments. I know most of you like underground prog rock and death metal, which i also like, but just as an instrumentalist and song writer, how talented and creative do you think John Mayer is?

10- being with the ranks of hendrix, paige, morello, etc

Everyone hates John Mayer here because he is on the Top 40 radio station. When in reality, they never really listened to any of his music outside of what is played on the radio. I would give him an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. He possibly, POSSIBLY, just as good as Eric Clapton, but more technically sound.

He's a very good guitar player, I've seen him live before. 8/10

Never heard of him, but I went on youtube to check out a solo from one of his songs, and I thought it was good.

So I guess I'll say his a good guitarist.
