Pretty interesting.

Cool. I thought it was more striking than the ending in theatres, but it still convolutes the point of the original story. They ARE alone, not because they are survivors, but because they are part of a soon to be extinct race.Witchsight
In the original one they had more of a society though didn't they, weren't they able to talk as well?

Hated the alternate ending. It seemed so...awful. In my opinion after what happens in the story and how the zombies/vampires act, they would not instantly turn affectionate and stop wanting to kill them. Earlier in the story they were pretty much emotionless.ferron321
I agree. But at the same time this ending is still fairly intense. Earlier he had concluded that they had lost all cognitive ability and were pretty much mindless. Most of the rest of the movie goes on to prove that completely wrong. They still wanted to kill everything, but were fairly intelligent.
I liked what this ending was alludung to. Even if you, in your mindset and existence are convinced of 'helping' another person to get 'better' it may not be the best way or even the right way. By showing the humanity in the zombies, it proved to Smith's character that everything that he had done was in vain, and these 'people' don't need help. They are simply different. I mean, really, really different, but not to the point where they needed a 'cure.'
Maybe a metaphor to what's goin on in Iraq? Simply imposing your mindset on a different people isnt going to solve a problem. Just because you find it fine how you live doesn't mean its fine for someone else. Ie: democracy, western pratices have very little relevance in islamist society; at least in many ways of practicing it.
Thats my opinion, maybe I'm wrong.
