Just incase you guys didn't see this yet
http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/03/05/must-watch-i-am-legends-original-ending-this-is-amazing

Personally I think the alternate ending shows how tired CGI is getting. It was revolutionary in Terminator 2 but it's enough already. The Movie ending shows how you cannot reason with wreckless hate..something that's going on right now in the world.

Last week I find that the original I am Legend has the Blu-ray Edition... A decent deal for it is only $19..

hey..Which ending do you prefer?

The Alternate ending is better, it's a little more true to the book (even though he...ah nvm, that's spoiling too much, the main point of the alternate ending is when he looks at the pictures on his wall and realizes how "scared" the creatures are of him, which is why I like it better), and the books ending was overall much better. Also, the original ending seemed more like "OH WAIT, WHAT IF PEOPLE ARE JUST COMING FOR A TYPICAL MOVIE EXPERIENCE?! WE'RE DOOMED IF WE USE THIS ENDING! *throws in ****y self-sacrifice ending, and the world is saved.*

I guessed the alternate ending throughout the original movie.... cuz the whole time I knew there was something going on with the man vampire thing and the woman vampire thing....and the way it ended didnt answer that question. Also, the whole movie shows how CRAZY the doctor is getting, he is losing his mind slowly.

I personally preferred the movie ending myself. The whole "bad guys aren't really bad guys and the good guys aren't really good guys" thing is, to me anyway, a horribly annoying cliche. The fact of the matter is that one way or another, Neville pretty much had to die.

I REALLY don't like either ending. One is too cheesy and overly heroic, the other makes no sense and from what I just read on Wiki about the books ending... I don't know why the writers went the Hollywood route.

Meh, by the time I get around to reading it I'll probably forget it anyways. I've got Moby Dick, The Aeneid and House of Leaves (2nd, 3rd and maybe 4th times ^_^) to read this summer... and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky in Q2 and IIDX Gold coming out in May. I am Legend may not even get onto the list this year... which is why I decided to look it up. :P

It's a short read though, just 160 pages, I know I haven't finished House yet, but, I'm more than 100 pages into it.

-and holy crap, Clear Sky is coming soon! I forgot!

EDIT: Oh, and even though you've spoiled the ending, I still suggest you read it, just because you've read better books doesn't mean this one isn't any good.

I understand, I do the same.

-and yeah I know it's almost pathetic that I haven't finished it yet, and I know I have the chance to read it now, but since it's really late at night, I'll just fall asleep, and hey, I've got my excuses, I haven't even played a video game in a few months.

I'll have more time to do things in the summer, expect me to finish around then.

Not the best of ideas... >_>

The only games I've played since December are STALKER, Vampire: TMB, Doom I/II/3:RoE and DJMAX P2

It's tough when you have no time and most games are so boring.

 I have an electric lantern in my room that I used when I was at OK D-Day for my tent, and now I use it when I have to go downstairs for a drink or something (so I don't turn on all the lights and wake someone up).

and man, I have a bad habit of Threadjacking...I gotta stop myself ahead of time.

Thread hijacking is an artform, not a demerit. :P

I really hope I get scared ****less again when I read it for the second time (maybe something else this time... >_>). Being MADE to dread the dark by a book is something incredible.

1408 showed that John Cusack can handle a whole movie in a room by himself well so maybe him. Tim Robbins would also be good.

Overall I think Daniel Day lewis could probably do it, he really gets into every role with such dedication. He and Paddy Considine are the best actors of our generation.

And furthermore there is no reason to CG for the creature in IAL as they aren't really doing anything superhuman, they should have used practical make up effects and it would have been more effective and scary.

The only scene that really works is when Neville is trying to find his dog and he finds the creatures just standing there. It works because it's dark and you aren't looking for imperfections.

I fully understand that they likely opted for CGI because "execs" feel people want CGI cause it's cool. It also isn't as scary so it would help them get their PG-13 rating.

The car looked fake (or was that just me?) why fake a car. why fake a lion? you could shoot the scene with a real lion with one of those computer controlled cameras and then shoot the scene with will smith and not the lion and then composite them together.

I think I heard or read the director of Batman Begins doing everything for real with stuntmen because although easier and nowadays probably cheaper with CG, he knows that realism has quirks and mistakes and nuances and dirt (can't remember exactly what he said) that CG just doesn't have.

Anyway it sure is a whole lot better than the special effects we once thought were good in star wars. I'd rather the CG vampires than another bloody muppet.

Hey did I just argue 2 sides of a coin?????

*SPOILERS*

I thought it was really good until all those other people showed up. The director/screenwriters should have followed the book's plot more closely. It was great. Why ruin a good thing?

I dislike both of them.

Will Smith should have killed them all, saved himself, and then they all travel to Vermont or whatever.
