Its also for people to "share" what they are up to, as in and these are taken from my facebook list thingy "Why does Otis love to eat paper ?!" , "Baking brownies !", "Ps. Told ya it'd be snowing in February!" "5 minutes ago we were driving in warm, bright sunshine. Now we're in a mini blizzard, windy, snowy, foggy!" why do we need to know any of that stuff. More importantly, why is it deemed not normal to not like saying stuff like that. I remember the days of people saying "the saddest people are ones who say they are eating a sandwhich.... now everyone posts pictures of sandwhichs etc. crazyness.

For Facebook Its generally for people whom you know personally Way to keep in contact with them, organise events, share photos etc Unless you're a girl Then its selfies, insecurity and attention
To spread personal information about yourself, so people can stalk you. Its good for knowing what your friends and work colleges are up to.

aka
Your friends
I use it as a glorified email to keep in touch with friends I already know in the real world (plus relatives). I never use FB to make friends with anyone I've never met in the real world.
If you don't have friends in the real world, don't bother.
I don't see the point of it at all. Somebody posts a banal little thing about themselves and then others post banal responses along the lines of "good for you!" and that sort of rubbish. Seems like it serves people who have a compulsive need to talk about themselves.
I've noticed that on other forums quite a bit. Most people generally talk about whatever subject matter the site focuses on, but then there are a few who are constantly starting topics that are just about themselves and every little opinion they have and every little thing they do. Those people belong on Facebook.

Your Facebook feed is only as dumb as you allow your friends list to be.

This guy again.
It's really only good for two things Bikini photos and friends and family Everything else is just narcissism. It is what you make it. For me it's a easy way to keep in touch with friends and family, many of whom I now live hundreds (or thousands, in some cases) of miles apart from.

You don't use it to make friends, you use it to communicate with friends you already have... or party with.
And to block all posts made by annoying girls you have at one point partied with that added you.
I use it to stay in touch with friends. Actual friends, not "Facebook friends."harashawnIf they are not friends they do not belong there... Thats what i hate about Facebook.

Real life friends, cant delete them, and I have no idea how the hell did they found me again if I had added no one when I created the new FB.What are friends?

All jokes aside, it's basically a big cess-pool of swagfegs and annoying teenage girls. I wouldn't recommend staying there.
The people who are against facebook are the same kind of people who are against owning a television. What they forget is that they're being selfish in having that mindset. It's not about whether or not you want to watch TV, it's about entertaining your guests who might like watching TV. Therefore, you should own a TV just in case someone comes over who enjoys watching TV. Not having a TV makes you both weird and selfish. The same goes for Facebook. If you don't want to have a Facebook, you're cutting off a form of contact for your family and friends to talk to you. You may think that by not having a Facebook you're setting yourself apart from the crowd and not giving in to mainstream society or whatever, but what you're actually doing is being selfish by purposefully alienating yourself from people who care about you. Facebook is only bad if you allow it to be. There are privacy settings and you can just add the friends and family you talk with or see on a weekly basis if that's the way you want it to be.
Thats the most stupid argument I've ever seen People who care about you had a plethora of ways to contact you before FB existed, if they care for you, chances are they have your phone number, house address and email address.

People don't always want to talk on the phone. People go weeks at a time without checking e-mail. People often live miles and miles away and showing up at the house address is just not feasible. Fact of the matter is, not having a Facebook is cutting off a major form of contact to your friends and family and that's just a fact.
Edit: your response sounds very selfish so I wouldn't expect you to understand.

I just cant believe you are serious, you have to be trolling to believe in such a stupid argument like "not wanting to have a facebook is selfish" while at the same time saying that "some people just dont like talking on the phone" by your logic, no one should have an opinion of his own because if its different he would be "selfish" towards others.Visual aid in case you want to fap to women you know in real life.
LordQuorthon
This is the truth.
I rarely use it to talk to my friends... I'd rather just talk to them in real life.
It is good for keeping in contact with people you don't get to see often.
It is also great for intelligence gathering.
you can find friends on fb to chat about stuff, and you can write on your wall stuff about your interests. well, that´s pretty much it. XD
