A more concise and succinct way of saying what you mean: Most people aren't capable of deep thought because they're fucking idiots.

When you're a teenager you do everything right and nobody agrees. When you're past it no other teenager can do anything right =P

I guess feeling like you're the smartest person in the world and that nobody can even begin to imagine how big your intellect is does have its uses but personally, the older I get the less intelligent I feel. For example, I started learning English (my second language, just in case anyone is wondering =P) at the age of 6, by the age of 8 my English was almost at the level it is today, so I patted myself on the back and said to myself with immense pride "I'm bilingual at 8, I'm just so awesome!".

Then came Spanish, French, Italian, a bit of Japanese (can't speak French anymore, only read, my Italian is rusty and never really learned Japanese), and more recently Dutch when I moved to the Netherlands and now that I know a lot more language-wise than at the age of 8 I think "Man, there's still so much to learn...I need German, should improve my French and I still want to learn Japanese...and I've always enjoyed Latin..."...when I look at how much other people have learned, I don't feel all that smart anymore...

@korvus: I assume your last post was satirical and I for one, don't have any accomplishments in life other than being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes during my last year of high school, yet still managed to get into an Ivy League college despite finishing with at best a 70% grade average in all of my classes.

Of course, I don't know seven languages, so what I've done is nothing special.....

@EPICCOMMANDER: Yeah, my first sentence was satirical and the rest of my reply was still mostly to the OP; didn't mean to insinuate that you had/didn't have any accomplishments worth noting (that being said you should always be proud of what you've accomplished...even if you don't think it's much, I'm sure there are other people who couldn't have done it). My apologies if I wasn't very clear; it's past midnight so I may be a bit incoherent =P

EDIT: Hope your diabetes are under control, and that they aren't a big detriment to your every day life.

Well, I'd be lying if I said type 1 diabetes is not a detriment to my everyday life, but other than that and having to cope with those greedy health insurance companies, I barely remember I have it anymore. 21st century medical technology is an absolute godsend.

@EPICCOMMANDER: I agree completely. I remember as a kid spending 90% of my life either stuck at home or in the hospital because of my asthma. Nowadays you get an inhaler and you don't even worry about the health issue.

But NEVER elevate yourself as if you are above everyone else. As a whole people are stupid, but individually people are alot smarter then you think. Talk about yourself as if you are smarter then the unknown person and it'll just make you look stupid and arrogant. Always base yourself on the idea that everyone else knows just as much as you, and you don't know anything more then anyone else. Plus intelligence is a big area with different topics. I'm sure there are alot of things that you don't know, but the hillbilly down the street knows alot about.

Yeah, I'm sorry to bring rain to your parade...but pretty much every single teenager considers himself to be way smarter than all of his peers, it's also not uncommon to hear them claim they are "unique and different" from the rest and that they are "very mature for their age", despite the fact that they are actually all the same. Except of course those who don't say or think about anything of that, those are the real smarties.
