Good show, but I watched it a couple of years ago. Check out the pillows they made every song for that show.

Lucky Star, Sket Dance, uh... um... I'll edit this post in a minute when I remember lol

Edit: Here we go

NiKva's Supreme Epic Ultima Amazing Anime Recommendation:

  • Lucky Star
  • Sket Dance
  • Fooly Cooly (Furi Kuri, FLCL)
  • Fullmetal Alchemist
  • To-Love-Ru (mature audiences only lol)
  • Highschool of the Dead (mature)
  • Ao no Exorcist
  • D. Gray Man
  • Dragon Ball Z
  • Elfen Lied (Mature with a capital M)
  • Fairy Tail
  • Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka?
  • Pokemon
  • Steins;Gate (WATCH THIS)
  • Hidan no Aria

The last 2 are the best in my opinion :D

I watched both, but this brings back fond memories. Also if you like Bepop check out Baccano.

Updated my list. Lucky Star is pretty casual in terms of anime, but I liked it.

Code Geass and FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood are high on my list. You should check out the anime thread we have in OT. You'll be exposed to lots of new stuff if you do.

New ones I'd say either Guilty Crown or Bakuman. Check out this list and see what kinda style you like.

Personally I've been watching a lot of Tiger & Bunny recently.

What makes anime different from any other childrens cartoon? Why don't you just watch childrens cartoons in general?

Anime usually has foul language and it's pretty graphic. Not something kids should be watching at a young age.

I hardly watch anime, only watched that and Deathnote. So I thought it was decent, although there so many annoying characters.

I agree with the annoying characters plus there really wasn't much of a plot which was my big issue with it. Deathnote was pretty good though.

  • Akira - It's what got people in the West interested in anime in the first place and is widely considered to be one of the best works in the medium. It also has very high quality animation which is a rarity for anime.
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion - Widely considered to be the best anime, period (obviously some people are going to disagree, and I'd like to point out that "widely" =/= "unanimously"). Starts off as a typical shounen mech anime, but eventually turns into something much deeper. Make sure to watch the movies since they provide a much needed clarification to the show's ending and also continue the plot.
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Anime that just aired earlier this year, a lot of people are saying it's the best thing since Evangelion. And just like Evangelion it starts off very deceptively so you really need to finish the first three or four episodes before you decide to quit or keep watching.
  • Cowboy Beebop - Even people who don't normally like anime like this show
  • Death Note - Ditto
  • Ghost in the Shell - Cyberpunk anime that was the Wachowski brothers' inspiration for The Matrix. Watch the first two movies and the first season of the show. The rest of the series tries to hard to be intellectual and ends up being very offputting.
  • GTO - Comedy show about an ex-bike gang member who decides to pursue a career in teaching.
  • The Girl Who Jumped Through Time - Drama movie. I'd tell you what it's about except that the title is pretty self-explanatory.
  • Clannad - Two season long drama show that makes everyone cry whether they admit it or not.
  • Grave of the Firelies - Highly acclaimed anti-war drama movie about two orphans living in Japan during WWII.
  • Anything made by Miyazaki - Mostly family-oriented stuff, but entertaining nonetheless
