Bullying a kid because of his name is kinda stupid, in my opinion. The guy could be named Adolf Hitler the Jew Killer and I wouldn't give a crap unless he actually started killing jews.

This really...I think that would be terrible for your child. Also, I think it is just disgusting to...why would you want to? Even if you think "Oh this name sounds nice". Just because it sounds good doesn't mean you should. Just like George Kastanza(sp) with Seven or Soda :P.

i see no problems with it, at least the name is well known and has a history behind it... on the other hand, some of these celebrity names are triple strength crazy.

no...and before people try saying its a free country, or I can name my kid what ever I want( like the parents tried saying)...you have to remember its a kid, not a pet, this child will have to live with this name until he is old enough to change it, and you may be the parent, but that doesnt allow you to do something that could effect a child in this way. Its like these actors who name there children odd names...its like they think of there kids as a new accessory or pet that they can name what ever odd/clever/weird name they think up. I mean you may like the name, but that doesnt mean the kid will, especially after the scrutiny he/she will get when old, and it should be about what the child would want and not the parents.

Adolf Adventure? Good one. I don't think it's appropriate in most contexts, but I'm not sure if anyone should be allowed to take the parents' kid away from them because of that. The law's not playing by its own rules, even if those people probably wouldn't make the best mother or father.

I was reading the slideshow and came across this: "Last year, New Zealand authorities blocked a couple's bid to officially name their new son "4Real," saying numerals are not allowed. And in July, a 9-year-old New Zealand girl was made a ward of the court so she could change her name from "Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii." She complained that it was embarrassing and a judge agreed. The girl's new name was not made public." :D...Wow...and I thought Hitler was bad.

Ofcourse its appropriate to name your child Adolf Hitler. How do you think Adolf Hitler got his name? It is when you draw in exterior factors that the name can be deemed inappropriate.

I don't think it's the name itself that people are uncomfortable with; but the bad memories associated with it. If I were to run into a kid named Adolf Hitler I wouldn't look down on him or anything. The bad guy is Adolf the Nazi; not Adolf the toddler.

No. Adolf Hitler is a very specific name known to *almost* everyone, and carries a very dark history behind it. The name has also evolved into more of an insult, to describe oppressive behaviour. In that context it's no different from naming your child Crapbag or Asshat. If the freedom card is going to be played, then the freedom of the child needs to be taken into consideration. After all, it's his name. Because of the reputation that name carries, undoubtably a fair number of people will take offence to it. Even if the emotion isn't "offended" this will affect the first impressions he encounters throughout his life.

This reminds me of my best friend in Scotland. His whole family was Jewish, all the way back to the early 1300's. His parents wanted to name him after Adolf Hitler When I asked them why, they said they admired him, not for is ideologies, but for his leadership, speaking skills, and other things..

I was on a website that is censored here yesterday and I saw a few threads urging people to vote yes in that poll. There is your explanation. And no I don't think it is appropriate to name your child that, but I voted yes in that poll the other day for the funnay.

It's just a name :| (admittedly, it was shared by one of the greatest mass-murderers in history). The people who are really messed up are the ones who judge him negatively because of it.
