i can't believe i'm saying this but...My Chemical Romance fans....post here

ok for starters, i wanna say, this isn't my favorite band.....but for sociology class i am suppose to present a song that relates to sociological aspects. But the hard part for me right now is gathering info on the band itself, i've tried dam near everything, but all i get is things like: this person was born in such and such date, and grew up in....blah blah blah...

what i need is stuff like

1 - what type of music they do (ex: political, social, ect ect.)

2 - how they came up with their name (i read something about a book but it never gave me the title)

and 3 - if any of them have ever been in/ part of another band previously..

i know some of this stuff sounds easy to get, but i've checked on a few dozen sites and i get nothing but the fanboy girls saying how "hot teh band iz" and all this other useless opinionated stuff.

ps. and please, if you don't know the answer to these questions please don't post, any people who come in this thread saying things like "OMG, THIS BAND SUX SO BAD", will be reported immediatly. I'm not a fan of this band either but i'm desperate for info. (btw, the only reason i'm doing a song from this band is becasue it was iether that, or Facedown - red jumpsuit apparatus......nuff said)

tied it......too much info that looks iffy, i see that they were formed in 2000 from a book on one site, on wiki it said in 2001, from a movie based on a novel....and yet still no name.

Hey you're slorg's friend! Sorry man can't help you out, but I think for number 1 they are more on the inspirational, emotional side, a type of music that you need to interpret for yourself, or something like that, I don't think that they're very politcal at all, hope that helps.

well it builds apon nintendomans post, so ya it helps on the type of music.

and after 12 pages of fanboy(girl?)ism, i finally found out that they based their name off of the novel "ectacy: three tales of chemical romance" so i got that info, mabey with a little more info, i can possibly Bs My way throught the speech. :D

and btw, ya, i've known slorg since he joined (we wern't as close of friends back then but still, after i went to highschool we didn't talk for a year though) but anyway back on topic, thanks for the info people

They play Rock with a hint of metal on there older stuff now they play a tad lighter. I have no idea where the name came from :?. None have been in any band before.LouieV13

Probably Plastic Surgery Disasters/In God We Trust Inc. Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables is also good.

Frank Iero was previously in a band called Pencey Prep. He left that band and joined My Chemical Romance.

Mikey Way used to work in a bookstore and when he shelved the Irvine Welsh's novel Ectasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance, he thought is would make a good band name.
