It's not that I've got a terminal disease or something, I just don't want to. Whenever I see really old people who can barely move forward I am just filled with disgust. I'd rather die young than being reduced to that. Right now, I see my parents getting older. My dad's in the upper 50's, and I think that's where I want to jump off the train.

What about you, you wanna grow old and fragile or die when you are still living?

50 isn't super old IMO . . .

I don't think I would care if I died after 70 though.

I probably won't live that long either. I lead a 'hard' life My older brother just died of a heart attack None of my grand parents are alive etc. ...I don't fear death, just growing old. So it all works out

I know 60-somethings who can run circles around me, but they've stayed in shape their whole lives. You ever seen the way a martial arts master moves when they're really old?

This. People need to take care of themselves, otherwise they'll just end up how they don't want to be... sooner.

I want to live as long as my wife does and as long as my kids are old enough to take care of themselves. And I want to be able to care of myself. If I can't then that's sad.

I'd say 80 for me. I have good genes in my family, as fortunately all my grandparents have lived to 90+, and remained pretty active into their 80s, but I just think that is the max for humanity. My grandpa had surgery about five years ago to basically prevent himself from dying; it was my mom's and myaunt's decision, but frankly I wish he were dead. I say that with absolutely zero animosity in my heart; I just think it was borderline selfish of my mom and her sister to essentially force my grandfather to postpone dying. His life has been, to my eyes, torture for the last five years.

I'll probably live to my 80s. I don't lead a hard life, although it would help if I exercised more.

You should meet my partner's 75 year old father, who is lively as hell. Trust me, even by the time you are my age (38), 50 will seem way too early to die, and you will realize how much life can still be in you at that age

Since you said that, you'll die before you're 50. I know someone who said he won't live past 30 and he died at age 28. So yeah. You'll probably die before 50 now. But that would make u happy since u don't want to live over the age of 50. So there ya go.

Yeah I know what you mean. I know this old lady who is in her late 80s. She broke both her legs by falling off of her goddamn bed. Another time she fell of her bed again, hit a furniture and got her eye removed.

She's also delusional.

She thinks she's in various places when she's just in her house and imagines that various kinds of people visit her. Her kids are waiting for her to die to grab her money so we're taking care of her. Tis sad but what can you do.

Get back to us when you're 45 and let us know if you want to die in 5 years. (I bet you would have changed your mind by then) Just sounds like The Who ironically singing "I hope I die before I get old" on their reunion tours...

I look at it this way. I have cancer on my moms side, heart disease on my dads. I smoke and don't exercise. By 60 I think my body will be worn out. I know I should do things to prevent alot of the issues I am likely to have but... well I have no excuse I just don't do them. If I get to 60 though and feel spectacular my view will change of course :)

My body is already breaking down at an accelerated rate (28 years old). It is probably a good thing for me though, since the males in my family (both sides) have all sorts of medical problems.

Instead of being such a wuss and giving up, why don't you work out and maintain your body so that you can be mobile well into your 60's and 70's?

I'm very active. I do cardio workouts 5-6 times a week, can't go to the gym because of my wrists. The thing is I don't want to slowly wither away. My body is not in the best condition though. I've got some trouble with my knees and serious trouble with my wrists. I'm just 18 now, and I'd imagine that won't get better with age. The day I have to stop drumming is the day I go out with a bang.
