An old children's book that I had read to me as a kid and they read it to the kids at church today and I was so close to losing it right in the middle of church in front of everyone. Seeing as how I'ma 22 year old guy it would have been really embarrassing.

I remember reading it when I was younger. I thought it somewhat touching, but it's going to take more than that to get me to cry.

Am I the only one that found this part creepy? :?

That teenager grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was a grown-up man. He left home and got a house across town. But sometimes on dark nights the mother got into her car and drove across town. If all the lights in her son's house were out, she opened his bedroom window, crawled across the floor, and looked up over the side of his bed. If that great big man was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she rocked him she sang:

Kinda creepy, driving across town to break into her son's house so she can pick him up and sing him a bedtime song. That single mom needed a man in her life.

No effect on me... but that mother must be pretty strong if she picked up her teenage boy and rocked him back and forth like a baby.

I know but it still leaves me wondering, where was that boys father? Tough childhood living without a dad and with an overprotective mother.

lol well as far as favorite children books go my most memorable would have to be "Something from Nothing" by Phoebe Gilman. Great read :D

LOL! That was epic! As for the actual story, the people who cry to it are usually mothers. My teacher read it to us in class, and the only people who cried were two girls.

Inquisitor326
The same way she snuck into his room without disturbing his wife. Besides it was her own fault for getting sick, sneaking in and out of houses in the middle of the night. If my mum did this I would have to Rick James slap her and then move.

That's my favourite children's book, though really it's geared for all ages. The first time my teacher read that to us we nearly all cried. It's best to read it with the pictures, they evoke more emotion that way.
