Is there any point in having them?

yes, but there's really no point in having alot of them. Having 4 or 5 close friends is much better than having 50 "friends".
Friends will be friends;
They're running naked in the sand.
Friends holding hands
Will someday surely form a band.
Friends will be friends
They say that friends are friends 'til the bitter end.
As long as there's a record deal, we'll always be friends!

It's always good to have friends. If you truly have no friends, your life must be pretty... well... awful, to be honest.
Friends are important.
I have yet to find a friend I can discuss more serious and philosophic matters with though, people tend mostly to think shallow things regarding themselves, like my job sucks, my hair was ace today, I need to get some sun, that guy is an idiot etc. It's rather uninteresting
But they are great for drinking, watching a movie etc. And I wouldn't be without them
You could always have imaginary friends. There are advantages to having them, such as they won't ask to borrow stuff, and they will never get angry with you, no matter what you do! :o
...What was the point of that? Wasn't there a better way to get your "message" across?Friends will be friends;

Anyway, if you are happy without friends, then it doesn't really matter. It depends entirely on what makes YOU happy.

ya finding a friend who you can really open up to and trust about your problems = super rare.
I guess that's what people find in a partner.

No, and, judging by those lyrics, I won't be any time soon.Juts remember guys this quote
You can pick you friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend nose
The above is just one of many reasons why I hate awful quotes.Juts remember guys this quote

You seem angry and in need of a friend. Here, let me pull up a chair so you can air all your grievances. Lay it on me, pal.

Yeah, sorry, I was going to delete what I said, but then I realized you already saw it, so I just continued with the angry tirade.I'm quite sad to admit this, but for a long time I thought friends weren't truly required. As introverted as I am, I felt that I was good enough company by myself, and that other people would just be a burden to me. I sort of felt disdain towards most people (especially my peers).
But the more time that passed, the more I realized that I was fooling myself. Friends come in all shapes and sizes, and you don't have to choose the lowest common denominator. Find people that enjoy the same activities you do, share your thoughts and ideas, listen to theirs. It'll really help you in the long-run, I think. :)
It's good to tell yourself you don't need them if you don't have any. However having friends is a very good thing.
There is a point to having friends, you can manipulate them for fun and games as well as use them when advantageous. That said, I don't have any either.
they can also be a bad thing for people who have trouble seeing right through them.It's good to tell yourself you don't need them if you don't have any. However having friends is a very good thing.

Yup. I am qutie introverted but I can't imagine going on without some one close to talk to.Rikardur
I agree.
believe it or not, friends arent needed in life. I have friends but i know not one of em will defend me in a tight situation. I bet the majority feel that way. Tjeremiah1988
Wow... you must not have very good friends... no offense x). In my case, I would defend a friend. How much I defend them depends on how close we are.

well when i said that i mean like a really, REALLY sticky situation, not some minor one. Usually people believe that they are friend till the end, then that friend ends up back stabbing. Like one can say they will have your back in so n so , n they later not keep their word. Sorry, cant come up with a good example. But I do trust my friends, they are great, but I wouldnt go as far as to say I trust them with my life or w.ePlease Log In to post.
