Why do certain cultures practice ancient arts? You see the Japanese and the Chinese practicing swords arts, and I think the Japanese even do demonstrations of things like the use of primitive guns (I don't know the names, but the ones that shoot once and then need to be reloaded). You don't see the Europeans doing demonstrations with their straight swords, or the archery that they practiced back then. I'm not talking about martial arts, those are arts and a form of self-defense. Post what you guys think or know to be true.

You don't see Europeans do that? Really? Here in America (at least where I am), the Renassaince Fair is quite popular.

Because they like their older culture. Pluse the sword practice is damn good exercise.

it is because they want to preserve their culture. they don't feel that it would be right if they just forget all about it and let their ancient culture rot. and btw, a lot of countries do this sort of thing, not just the asian countries.

If i had to guess,im pretty surethatsome cultureslike china's influences and respect from past ancestries and their traditions,they probably would practice what their ancestors would.
