First before reading this, I am begging you to believe me. I am the VERY LAST person to believe supernatural crap all my life. I am very into science and a skeptic who always believed everything has a rational explanation. then I experienced something that destroyed my entire reality.

A couple months ago I discovered the Mandela Effect (keep reading there is much more to this). It is when things from the past have CHANGED from what you knew them to be. I was horrified to learn SO MANY things I am certain I knew from the past have changed.

There are millions online that KNOW these things have changed along with me.

Here are some crazy ones that changed. I am so certain these changed from what I KNOW they used to be they gave me panick attacks.

-Dolly (the blond that fell in love with JAWS ) from MoonRaker now has NEVER HAD braces .

-Twilight Zone’s Rod Sterling is now Rod Serling, and always was.

- Berenstein Bears is now Berenstain Bears.

- Rodin’s thinker statue used to be fist to forehead, now it it flat hand under chin and mouth.

- Chic - Fil - A is now Chick -Fil - A and always was.

- the monopoly guy now has never had a monocle

- The famous Forrest Gump line is now “Life WAS like a box of chocolates”, not is.

There is TONS more, but I’ll list them later. What happened next was even crazier and ruined my life.

I read hundreds of changes, I was shaking from disbelief. There are millions who experienced these changes too, there are people who tell all of us “you just were misremembering” Hell no, I am certain of these.

But I tried to convince myself it was false memories because it was taking its toll on me, and then something happened WHICH SEALED it as being REAL and I can’t deny it anymore...

THE SUPERNATURAL EVENT:

I personally witnessed a flip flop. I was freaking out that Apollo 13’s famous line “Houston we have a problem” changed to “Houston we’ve had a problem”. I showed a replayed the Apollo 13 scene over and over to myself and showed my mom, cousin, and grandma the scene telling them it changed. they told me they never saw the movie and I must be misremembering. I tried to convince myself I was, then 2 weeks later, THE F*CKING line CHANGED back and flip flop back to “houston we have a problem”. I had a damn breakdown. I ran to my family’s members which I showed the Apollo 13 videos to and told them “remember when I showed you the Apollo 13 line. It changed back!” All of there jaws dropped when they saw it flip flopped back.

I am literally sitting here, tears rolling down my eyes just thinking about it. I THANK GOD i showed my family so I had personal witnesses to the change. There are MILLIONS others who saw the Apollo 13 flip flop online.

my reality has been shattered, there is no going back. I swear on all of my family’s lives this happened, I am begging you to believe me. I honestly believe this is a simulation now, or somehow a parrelel universe reality.

Rod Serling was never Rod Sterling.

The Forrest Gump one is kinda blowing my mind though.

Okay, so i dont believe in the Mandela effect, i think its a bit silly. Not out of the range of possibility, but kind of silly mostly because the things people point out, i tend to remember correctly. EXCEPT one thing and whats crazy is my brother and our best friend growing up (without mentioning anything to them) said the same goddamn thing.

We all have this memory of Sinbad, the actor, playing a genie in this family Disney type movie in the 90s. Whats even more crazy, while i remembered bits and pieces my brother was able to lay out a near perfect synopsis and when i started watching some videos on this subject, other people were giving full movie synopsis it was nearly exact to what he said and what i remembered. And yet, no one knows what this movie is, its not on Sinbads resume and he has been asked about it and denies ever making this movie.

I found out about this after watching some silly top 10 on youtube and none of them caught my attention except that one. I could have swore it was real, so i called my brother who had never even heard of the Mandela effect at that point and asked him very specifically "What movie from the 90s do you remember Sinbad being in the most?" and he said "I dont remember the name of it, but it was that kids movie where he played a genie".

Apparently nothing relevant changes just silly stuff. I mean, even if it was true, why bother?

Anyway, for a science guy you seem to care little about how flawed is the human mind.

I grew up believing Michael Jackson had a midget sister. ?

See... I think I remember that too. But maybe i'm just remembering Kazaam and because you've put in my mind that there was a Sinbad genie movie I'm just picturing him in Kazaam instead of Shaq...

@MuD3:

@MuD3: It was not Kazaam, I saw both of those movies. The Sinbad genie movie was completely. i pretty sure kids summoned Sibads Genie while they were in an attic in the movie and at first they were scared of him.

Seems to me that word of mouth corrupts memories...it's like the "Luke, I am your father" line. It became a meme and now most people say it like that even thought that's not the line to begin with. Same with spelling...some letter combinations are more aesthetically pleasing than others so we go with those instead of the ones that were intended.

Then of course, there are details that escaped you until someone points them out at you, especially in old movies that are now in HD. The C3PO silver leg for example...I literally just googled C3PO and was like "what the hell is that guy talking about? I'm looking straight at him and he's all golden" and then I actually took a closer look and his foot is indeed silver. If I couldn't immediately tell by looking at him WHILE I was trying to find it is it really that odd that most people hadn't noticed until it got pointed out? It's not "Mandela Effect", it's just knowing what to look for. Wally (Waldo) doesn't magically appear in a page when someone tells you where he is...he was there the whole time.

The past is not set in stone. The future isn't either. With which I do not mean that they don't change predictably, but I mean that they change. It's on the fringes of what you 'know' that things change, is what I would say as a solipsist.

I also like James Rofles video about it after his Berenstain video:

I think it's kinda silly to assume the whole universe around you changed instead of you remembering stuff wrong. That other people remember the same things wrong is no wonder, our brains are pretty similar after all.

Also how come the Mandela effect is only about small stuff like spelling errors and not major stuff like "wow, where did my kid go" or "Yeah i know Hitler, he made some nice pictures".

Oh and sorry TC, if "the universe around me changes due to a super natural reason", you are NOT "very into science and a skeptic who always believed everything has a rational explanation". Go read up some book absout how our memory works. You would be surprised that you can't belive anything in your brain. Or at least watch some videos about the topic like this here:

You've confused The Age of Bronze with The Thinker, both were by the same artist.

Most of the rest can be explained by the fact that they're uncommon names that sound similar to common names. Lots of names end in stein, few end in stain. Sterling is pretty common, I've never heard of anyone other than Rod Serling to have that last name.

You're also changing the sentences so that they make more sense in a different context. Both Gump and the Apolo 13 scene were in past tense, you've changed it to present tense.

All of these things can easily be explained as either (1) poor memory, (2) common mistakes caused by inattention to trivial details, or (3) "memetic degeneration".

By "memetic degeneration", I mean snippets of pop culture (or world history, or geography) that get repeated incorrectly, like Chinese Whispers. The lines from Forrest Gump or Apollo 13 have been repeated incorrectly so many times outside of the films themselves that the incorrect version has replaced the correct version in your memory - and you've simply never paid enough attention to it to notice the difference - because why would you? It's meaningless pop culture fluff.

This is no different to "Play it again, Sam", "Luke, I am your father" and "Beam me up, Scotty". Any casual audience would swear these are real quotes, because humans have imperfect memories and typically just run with the popular consensus for these things.

There's nothing supernatural about this, sorry.

To be fair the first 6 Freddy Mercurys had some issues too.
