Once intelligent life is found elsewhere in the universe... most religions in general will explode.

yup.
They're most probably laughing at our intelligence..jakeboudville
but.. what if we do get there... and they get angry because we've invaded their planet. Then it turns into star wars
Dethshoot
Then we will have kevin spacey in dances with the aliens.

I really am hoping we look into this new planet more closely. I think spending money on this would be much better than exploring Mars.

it would literally take 8 generations to get any real information from the planet because of the distance it is from us. So I would't be holding my breath on it. Anyways I am more concerned with the Swiss and their completion of the machine that will make the first worm hole. There are theories out there that if not properly contained it could suck the Earth in. They have evidence but i don't understand any of that type of stuff. Who knows but it will be done in 2009 they predict.

I hope they don't see that I post on GS, I need to make a good first impression!:oesb617
Your sig would make the impression for you.. :P.
there may not even be an atmosphere - but if there were they would have had a much longer time to evolve
I say if we find a way to reach their planet, we should invade and conquer their a**es!! After all, they're probably thinking of doing the same thing :D

I knew those Swiss bastards were upto something.
It is similar to earth but its also smallest planet ever discovered.greatgreatwa
Um, it is 50% larger than earth.

Well, that would be nice and all, but most religions would make something up to support their religious beliefs. They would somehow come up with a theory that would only support their conclusion and in effect even "strengthen" their religion. I **** you not. I'm athiest BTW, but you mark my words, religion could turn this toward their favor, even if it has no basis in fact.
yup.

That'd be cool if they were, but since we are still just beginning to understand aerodynamics on our planet and we've barely done much more than land on the moon, make some space stations and satelites, and send out some satelites....we won't be drinking together anytime soon.
I wonder if they have any sort of martial arts.
They only think that planet could sustain life. They haven't confirmed whether it even has water yet - or at least that's the last I read on it.sonicare
Thats not true the articles clearly said that it had liquid water on it.. Thats why scientists were getting so excited about it..
There are billions of planets out there, so any one of them can have life.Mudig
Not quite lol, try we have found 350 MILLION Galaxies ranging anywhere from 200 billion to a trillion stars in each one.. Then each star has the possibility of having dozens of planets around them...
