Third year of playing high school in soccer and I got cut. I know why too. My body was definitely not ready and I didn't play well. I have very serious insomnia that just completely drains me week after week, and I've developed a pretty bad back that hurts to just to walk or run which also definitely played a part on me not making it. I know I'm better than at least 5 kids that made the team, but I just didn't play well. So, yeah, I'm pretty depressed about not making it since I don't play any other sport. I know once I get into college it won't be that big of a deal, but right now it really sucks.

My only plan right now is to lift regularly and get a running parachute to try and get faster too.

Anyone else ever felt like this?

That does suck man, I'd say yeah, get a gym membership and hit the weights, and cardio exercises. Maybe sign up for a rec league or something, if you want to stay sharp and just play!

I know this is a different sport, but Michael Jordan also got cut in high school and he turned out just fine.

My advice? Give up. You already failed once, and in all likely hood, you will again.

You've got two choices: focus on getting better and making the team next year, or focus on other things in your life and forget about playing soccer. Both can be beneficial.

Yes because there is no such thing as learning from mistakes or getting better, right?

That I refuse to do.

I know I'm better than I played and I want to get bigger, faster, and stronger. I'm small for my age and I've been relying on just natural talent for too long. I need to beef up and work hard.

Getting cut sucks. I got cut from my baseball team in 6th grade (several friends of mine made it, most of whom I could definitively say I was better than).

you must have played very badly then....as a third year you should have been a shoo-in basically since you have already proven yourself twice. thats how it is nearly everywhere.

I admit I did play really bad. I've got excuses, but when it comes down to it I just didn't play well or make enough effort. Our school is very competitive though. We're state contenders for soccer, football, swimming and basketball every year.

yeah man i know how it is, i didn't mean it as an insult, just as a statement to show surprise. But hey man, just train hard in the meantime and youll get it back. who knows you may even get called back up by the coach if anything happens with the roster.

High School Soccer is a waste in my eyes. Trust me I have played all four years of my High School career for a very competitive, good quality school. Jv for one year Varsity the other three. If you have no aspirations to go to college and play then it really is no big deal. Right now I am playing competitive and I find it so much more fun and challenging. Especially with State Cup and all that.

I remember a friend of mine got cut from the basketball team one year. Another friend of mine heard about that, so when he saw him at lunch time, he asked him, "Hey, do you need a band-aid?" He looked at him. "Because i hear you just got cut!" Everyone was laughing pretty bad.

I know for sure I won't play in college. One, I'm not good enough. And two, I honestly wouldn't want to.

Something bad has always happened with every sport. Freshmen year I got shin splints doing cross country so I quit. I wasn't really that into it anyway so it didn't seem like a big deal. I had planned trying out for the basketball team but I broke my arm playing indoor soccer. I really had to work hard to be good at basketball so I ended up losing a lot of my game so I didn't try out the following year. Now I get to add this along with my chronic insomnia and aching back.

I thought this was going to be a thread about how you almost killed yourself by cutting your wrists.
