Somewhere after some years and try to talk you down about what they are doing, and then they break out into "Man I miss Highschool" and most of the times it's the people who were't even in your ring of friends or you have probably only exchange one or two words with one of these people. I admit, I was a geek in Highschool, outkast; one of the lower circles in the school, and being that I'm the inner city black rocker I was never popular amongst anyone. Yet now I garner these big old "Remember me!" conversations from people (Especially girls) who I never gave the time of day, or they have never gave me the time of day. All I say is "I'm in college" they say "Me too!" then they start talking old days, and a bucnh of current crap that I could care less about. Then the conversation usually ends with me giving a "yeah" and see you later... Honestly what's wrong with these people? It seriously takes me about five minutes to figure who some of them are, and the whole time I'm like "Please can you just go away now!!!! I wanna get on with my day!!".

Only ones I recognize are the ones that I liked and were in my crew of friends(geeks/rockers), and I still actually talk to and hang out with.

agreed. I don't see whats wrong with someone feeling nostalgic about their past just because you don't. Instead of wishing they'd go away why don't you try to start a new friendship. I wasn't exactly a "geek" or "loner" in HS as I did have many friends, but only 3-4 that I cared to remain in contact with after hs. I did bump into this one chick that I probably said 3-4 sentences to throughout my 4 years in hs and we have been REALLY close ever since then. Don't judge people based on the past. Move on act mature and try socializing its fun.

Seems like you just don't have that many fond memories of highschool and don't want to remember it or resent those that do.

I knew alot of people from high school. So I see them around all the time, and alot of them are my friends on myspace and facebook. And, my group of friends, which were also my group of friends from high school, also knew everyone. So between all of us, we pretty much are still in contact with everyone in our graduating class. So if something happens to someone, word gets around and everyone knows about it eventually. So I like staying in the loop and knowing whats going on. But its only been a few years. I cant wait till my 10 year reunion. I still have like, 7-8 years left

I think I know what you're talking about. I've run into a few people from high school who acted like we were best friends when they never actually paid me any attention in HS.

I haven't met my old-HS friends IRL yet, though I've found a lot of them on Facebook.

And they just want to talk to you, lol. Just spare 5-10 minutes.

I always feel bad when I come home from school to have people from highschool be all friendly with me and say how much they miss the good ol' days when I don't even remember their names. Or the whole "man next time you're down we gotta hang out!!" and of course I say "Sure thing!".. But I never do, I rarely care.

Just because you were a loser in high school doesn't mean you can't be nice to others who are trying to cheer you up, and the fact you'd rather have everyone dead than talk to you is just sad. No wonder you were an outcast, you sound like you were a hateful person.

I haven't had anything like that happen to me yet since I'm just starting college. However, there were some kids from my old elementary school who found me on facebook and decided that they wanted to plan a reunion. I'm like "sure" but really I'm thinking to myself: "We were friends back then? If so, can we still consider each other to be friends after 10+ years without any contact whatsoever?"

Death is an inevitable part of life.

I'm not saying it's normal to find death to be amusing, but I'm saying that deep down you find it interesting to gain that bit of information about someone's death no matter how shocking it may be.

Some creepy chick that used to stalk me in HS won't stop texting me and spamming my myspace with friend invites, I know how you feel if it's an annoying person that is being annoying, but if it's someone I was friends with or just sorta knew but didn't dislike I don't mind talking to them.

I enjoy bumping into people i used to know. :) Although i do agree with you that once you leave high school there's a strange tendency for people who never talked to you at all to suddenly become friendly when you see them later on. One guy i bumped into in town stopped me and started talking about his job and how he works on a construction site and how he's happy to be working and stuff, and previously i dont think he'd ever spoken to me in high school. :P

No, I enjoy running into anyone I know, even more so if I have not seen them for a while.

But yes, I do not like remeniscing about high school. Its so stupid, and for me that was like seven years ago. I mean, if someone wants to talk about I will humor them, maybe even enjoy it, but I wont actively pursue a conversation about high school memories.

As far as I am concerned, there were only three things I liked about high school:

1. Band
2. Football
3. Losing my virginity
4. Smoking pot with the very few friends I had

OK, thats four things.

ya I find that funny. But you know, high school changes a lot of people for the worse and then they get into the real world and they change into better people, or realize theyre suddenly not such hot stuff.

I remember there was this one guy. Good looking, headstrong, and played on the soccer team...he disliekd football players, and some of the girls like that cuz he was all clean cut and us football players really didnt give a crap. In short, he was a preppie.

We went to the same college, and it was just funny seeing him. He was completely miserable, hadnt changed one bit, still arrogant. I feel bad for taking pleasure in his poor situation but , you know, you just cant maintain your high school attitude outside of high school. We had a lab together and were in the same group and he was all uptight and proper.

I think thats why I like seeing people from high school. The majority of them all turned into really cool people; its nice seeing that, and talking to them and hearing about their families, careers, and friends.

MrGeezer

That's not always the case. Like me, for instance. Even for people that I really like, I often have trouble remembering names. It often comes the case that I remember a lot of things about certain people, but not their names. Even people I have been in close contact with for years. That's no reason for me to just keep walking when I CLEARLY recognize and remember them. If they are insulted that I don't remember their name, then they can just not talk to me and that can take care of itself. I don't care much about that regard. If they can't understand that some people have a problem in that regard, then they're not worth being friends with. It works both ways you see. Or it depends on what kind of person you are. If you like me, you tend to view the world in a very different way than a lot of people without explicity knowing it.

[QUOTE="DazedDarkness"][QUOTE="GTA_dude"]Happens all the time, and I enjoy it... I like seeing old friends/acquaintances from high school....karriston
I only like hearing if someone died. Or how many dumb wads are now dads/moms at 20.

Aaaaaannnnnnnddd.......Sociopath!

Yeah damn maybe I just had a really awesome grade but everyone was friendly or at least civilized to each other. Everyone was pretty close. That is just sick to say that.

Just because you were a loser in high school doesn't mean you can't be nice to others who are trying to cheer you up, and the fact you'd rather have everyone dead than talk to you is just sad. No wonder you were an outcast, you sound like you were a hateful person.Nerd_Man
I may go off on a tangent with this, but I've experience where TC is coming from. He didn't word it very...pleasantly but I get it. These people aren't looking to cheer you up, they're looking to cheer themselves up. They're stuck in the mindset of highschool and think everything is still a popularity contest, so the only reason they're being "nice" to you is to validate to themselves that they can still manipulate people into liking them. They'll be what I call "proximity friends", people who will only be friends with those in their immediate vicinity and make no attempt to keep in contact beyond face-to-face interaction, the principle being "they'll come to me". It isn't that the TC is being mean to them, per se, but these will be people who were mean to him. Why should he make exceptions for them? Kindness is a two way street. Anyway, that's my take on it. I could be wrong. :P

I know how you feel. All the people that I really want to talk to from my class is in my cell phone. The rest deserve to be treated well of course, but I don't want to have a full fledged awkward conversation with them.

I imagine most people in my high school don't even remember me. I talked to a few occasionally on facebook but I haven't physically talked to anyone from high school in 3 years and that was before I moved to Florida.

the way respond to people makes it no wonder you were in the "lower circle" in school.. they're just being nice.

[QUOTE="DazedDarkness"]

So who cares dude.

I'm majoring in Architecture at one of the best colleges for that program and everytime I see someone from high school I just have to laugh. I'm better than them and in all likelyhood will become incredibly successful.

...and people think I have an ego. HA!

I'm with you on this one man, I hate seeing my former HS classmates. With the exception of a few of them, the rest are just ugh...

Its like I moved on to College and I don't really give a **** about you or what your doing. (I come from a small town so it makes it worse, they stayed like losers and I moved on) And they try to act so friendly or that I give a crap, if i'm lucky they won't say anything or will just avoid me.

I occasionally see old high school classmates when I visit home and am joyful in seeing them. I'm saddened to know that I'm one of the few that is actually carrying out my dreams, but i at least try to know what some of my old friends and associates are up to these days, even if I do not keep in contact very often. Tonight I need to wish an old friend happy birthday, a friend I talk to about once a year now.
