Alright I'm 13 and I'm in the 8th grade, and I have to say, school really sucks badly. Not because I'm lazy but because the school curriculum sucks badly.

I get homeschooled right now, but most of the time I've gone to public and Catholic school.

Basicaly its this, I love learning things with history and geography in perticular, but at school I waste so much time NOT learning, all the subjects are idiotic. I mean they don't even teach history, geography, biology, or chemistry, but all the other subjects are 5 year old stuff. Things like "Do you know what Alziemers is?" or "Do you know what death is?" or "Do you know what an earthquake is?". So everything is 5 year old except for the fact that you waste time wi\riting thousands of notes and definitions of words you already know but of course, MATH is very complicated and extremely difficult, I know math is one of the most important things because everyone has to use it in real life but the math they try teaching you is very hard, and most of it the average person isn't gonna use in real life, like Linear relations for example, I couldn't learn that one in school so I learned it on my own, its only for snipers, snipers use it how many people are gonna become snipers that they have to teach it to everyone. Plus all the math you don't actually learn, you slime through it not learning anything! My dad had to relearn long division for his job because he didn't learn it in school. I mean everyone says I'm bad at math because I can't do math or division on paper, but I can do it all in my head! Why do I have to do it on paper if I can do it in my head! Yeah but I'm bad at math of course, I'm always the one that counts the money because I'm the one who counts faster in my head than any of my friends or family!

Ilearn veeeerrrryyy few things from school, I learn everything on my own, I like looking things up on the internet, reading history books, looking up things at the library, watching the history channel, and above all pondering things, and thinking...

So I'm not stupid or anything. I know that I must go through school until I get my high school diploma, then I want to go in the USMC then become a historian, I don't want to go to college because I don't want to make that much money because I want to live simple, I don't want to become a lawyer or doctor because none of that stuff interests me. I'd rather make less money doing a job a care about than make lots of money doing something I hate.

So what do you think of my opinion on school?

I know you have to do things in life you don't want to do, but I'm tired of everyone acting like you actually learn things in school and that I have to go to college and become a lawyer or doctor, so I just broke out and am no "whining like a  5 year old."

8th grade?  Wow, middle school is a joke.  You have no pressure or anything, grades don't even matter then. I hate school because

A) It's crowded

B) The People are loud and scream

C) Theres too many people

I didn't read your whole post because it looks like it's all just a big rant.

But middle school and high school are more tools for you to know what you want to do when you get to college. And it doesn't matter if YOU already know what you want to do, because 99% of the students out there don't and are still discovering who they are in high school. Many students still don't even know what they want to do when they get into college.

Just suck it up and get good grades so you can get in a good college where you actually learn stuff about what you want to do in life. Even if you feel you already know what you want to do, there is nothing you can do about it except become a genius and go to college early. The world doesn't revolve around you, or atleast it doesn't for now.

Math, you will find, will soon get even more obscure, abstract, and useless.  The point is no longer to learn functional math that you can apply to real world living, it is meant to train your brain.  You may not use the specific equations and such later in life, but it does have a big impact on how you think later on.

Well, in response to your post TC, I have this to say to you.

In all seriousness though, I understand that school does seem rather pointless in the things they teach you, but hey it's the way life is, might suck but just get on with it. I agree to a certain extent on what you were describing.

I just want to be in the USMC, whether WW3 is going on or its peace its a more structred organized life.

But don't get the idea its all stupid men with big guns killing things. thats just the infantry, theres also combat engineers, supplies, doctors, ETC. Although I want to be in the infantry.

My dad was in supplies and learned organization, now he's very succesful in work, and everything in our house is tip top clean becasue Marines are tought to clean and organize everything.

You don't know what Linear relations are do you?

You mean y=mx+b type stuff? Unless you mean linear algebra, which is something very different (vectors and such) and something I highly doubt you would be doing in 8th grade. Trust me, I know a lot more math than you do.

No I'm talking about the one with the graph, snipers use it because in real life, theres wind and gravity keeping you from blowing a mans head off at a mile away.

Its not algebra though.

What graph, anything can be made into a graph. Linear relations are algebra.

Well either way snipers use that perticular type of math when firing at long range.

[QUOTE="NicktehImperial"]I know math is one of the most important things because everyone has to use it in real life but the math they try teaching you is very hard, and most of it the average person isn't gonna use in real life, like Linear relations for example, I couldn't learn that one in school so I learned it on my own, its only for snipers, snipers use it how many people are gonna become snipers that they have to teach it to everyone.NicktehImperial

Did you just say that only snipers use basic algebra?

Ya, it's called skill and experience

Skill and experience? I was just saying that linear relations is different then algebra.

Ya.. the word "it" is a very specific word, especially when it comes to math

Look kid, High school and college are a LOT different than retarded middle school. When you get to high school, they actually do teach you things like biology and chemistry, and you may think there's no point to it, it's always better to have a good knowledge of how our world works, and you might even find those things interesting and want to study them further. I was originally going to go into a trade school to follow in my father's footsteps, but when I started taking business classes in high school I found that it interested me alot and now that's what I'm going to college for now. One more thing, if you don't go to HS or college you will be missing the experience. Just remember, there is a reason why they say HS and college are the best years of your life, friends, parties, girls....great memories that you can carry with you for the rest of your life.

I'm going through HS but not College, but thats because I'm following totally different path of life and don't want to have lots of money, I want to live simply.

And for party's and girls, can already do that in HS and MS, and when I'm in the USMC. Plus if I'm travelling on float I can meet girls in other country's.
