I have a bit of a problem... (involves a girl)

So there's this girl who I met through my friend and she's pretty cute. She also doesn't have a date to her prom (which is in like May I think) so I could potentially be that. So yesterday night I went out with three guy friends and three girl friends, one of whom I didn't know. So we all went out to eat and I was talking to this girl a little and I guess she seemed to like me since she was laughing and smiling and stuff, but I wasn't sure.

Now the only problem is that my friend likes her, but can't have her because she is his prom date's sister (who prob. likes him more than a friend). He doesn't like his prom date like that (he likes her more like a good friend - they've known each other for years). So now I'm trying to get with this girl (the sister) but my friend is like "no I like her." Now he's a good friend of mine and I don't want to hurt our friendship, so what do I do? I think that if I get with this girl (as in like a relationship) then he won't be extremely pissed at me.

So how do I do it?

That friend of yours has no business telling you "no, I like her". You like her too, he doesn't have "priority" over you.

So he's basically saying "No, you can't, because I like her"? Well then you say "So do I." Christ, it's not that hard. You can't just declare that you like someone and expect that your friends will therefore not want to get with them, it's pathetic. Why don't you just say "Hey **** I like every woman on the planet, so if you want to be my friend it looks like your gonna have to resort to homosexuality."

Ask her out......or do not. But your friend has a date and I'd not concern myself for that reason.

Okay, so like, Tommy has a crush on Brenda, right? But Tommy's best friend Jason ALSO has a crush on Brenda. But Jason is going to the prom with Brenda's sister Kelly, and Jason isn't all that interested in Kelly even though Kelly seems to be interested in Jason. Tommy doesn't know what to do because Jason is all like "you can't ask Brenda out, I like her." And Tommy is all like "but dude, you're going out with Brenda's sister, Kelly!" Poor Kelly,do you think she suspects that Jason wants to ditch her for her sister? Ooooh, I just love a juicy drama! I wonder what'll happen in next week's episode?

if your friend doesn't have the balls to tell this girl that he doesn't like her in that way then he cant expect you to not go out with her sister...go for it...just take things slow so no one gets hurt.

Ah, high school. Good times. This reminds me of a somewhat similar situation... Three buddies and I were hanging out in study hall and one posed the question "What girl at school do you like?" I, of course, said my girlfriend and the other two said theirs, but the last guy said he also had the hots for my girlfriend. I was OK with this because I trusted my girl and he was a twig anyway. However, on Valentine's day (about a week after the conversation) he buys her roses and a teddy bear. This was a little across the line so I punched him in the mouth after school. Yes, I am shallow and pedantic.

I would ask her out. Your friend already has a prom date, and if he's not happy with what he has, well, that's his problem. He made his choice. I would politely and calmly explain your point of view, and if he still has a problem with it, then I'd politely tell him to go get stuffed. :)

I'd ask her out, dude claiming her but doing squat isn't cool. Having said that be prepared to possibly loose a friend.
