I like A Perfect Circle, but they butchered that song.staindcoldlp
Thanks for the warning....that cover is horrible.
I just posted that video...in the covers thread.
If you think it's horrible then you don't get the message.
The video is all news footage from the Iraq war that was aired on 24 news networks and the video is banned from being played at all.
It's about the death of the dream.

i disagree a perfect circle did a great job performing this great song by the beatles, these dudes are original and had no way los6t their touch in rock industry

Eh... It's a John Lennon song. And I hate A Perfect Circle with all my heart.I just posted that video...in the covers thread.

Just because it has a somewhat "powerful" video. Doesn't make the song great and that you have to like it. They butchered it in the worst way possible, but hey, I respect them for trying.

The original...by John Lennon;) is a great song....that was beaten to death by the cover by A Perfect Circle. Seriously, if you are going to destroy a song....don't remake it.

Exactly my point...it's not about the SONG it's about the MESSAGE.

That song is from the album eMOTIVe.
eMOTIVe is a "peace album" that uses the messages of certain songs to portray a powerful message. For example, Marvin Gaye's "What's going on?" has all emotion removed and is sung is a rather drab tone. It is done to express that we care so little about what is going on and our brothers dying and our mothers crying.
Imagine was played in such an ugly way to stress the death of the dream that John Lennon spoke of in Imagine.

I don't care about their album theme....as a song...their cover sucked. Why should I listen to something that offends my ears because they think they are making a statement? Lennon's lyrics stand alone and need no one to try to create a better message. The power IS in the lyrices.

I totally agree.Tool and A Perfect Circle are mediocre at best. The original writers of that song mustve been communists :o

It's not about your ears, it's about your heart.
They didn't make the album to please your ears, they did it to protest the war. It was released on November 1st, 2004 to coincide with the election.
You want something "pretty" from the album? Try Fiddle and the Drum.
There are other bands besides The Cure. It doesn't hurt to admit that other bands have talent.

Wow....first, music should be pleasing to the aural senses. Second, the song needed no cover particularly one so very very bad. As I said....it doesn't matter what it was done for...it sucks.
I've heard A Perfect Circle....I don't find them to be that great to start with and the butchering of Imagine just sealed the deal. Sometimes, quiet and understated is more powerful than loud and obnoxious to spread a message. Lennon's lyrics ARE the message....as I told you before.:|
As for your snide comment about The Cure......yes, they are my favorite band.....but I listened to more music, I have hundreds of bands on my play list and I seek out new music constantly. A Perfect Circle just isn't good enough for my ears. They suck as well as the cover.;)

If you don't get it you just don't get it.
Sometimes the message gives more pleasure than the music.
The Cure doesn't have a message which is why you won't find any of their music in my library.
Music is not an escape, it is a catalyst.

I doubt A Perfect Circle or yourself gets the actual message in that song....but if one has to be irritated to hear a message then the message just isn't worth it. There are pleasant ways to get a message across....of course, if a band is not capable of good music then I guess they are at a handicap and have to try to force it on you.
I'm sure The Cure isn't in your library....you don't appreciate good music.

I agree with LJS, music needs to aurally pleasing. Tool/A Perfect Circle is not. Its a droning, annoying noise. BTW, The Cure is AWESOME. Anyone who would rather listen to A Perfect Circle than The Cure has their tastebuds in their rectum.

If you're going to go there...The Cure is one of the worst bands I've ever heard. They're so easy to consume and unorignal and self-pitying it makes me want to puke when I hear Robert Smith's terrible, whiney, shakey, little voice.
They have no message except for "love hurts...yeah yeah." Every time I see his stupid face I want to punch him and tell him to stop feeling sorry for himself and stfu.
He is the original emo.

Youre comparing Robert Smith's singing voice to Maynard Keenans? What a joke, im not even going to argue with you on this one.

 Youre so biased its unbelievable. Maynards voice is a monotonous drone. Youre saying that out of every singer to exist, Maynard Keenan sounds the best? Im not gonna argue with you anymore, I think youve made your ignorant point.
I like A Perfect Circle's cover more than the original. I kinda felt it was meant to be kinda sad and I feel A Perfect Circle did a better job of making it sad than the Beatles.ThyeoraThe Beatles didn't do that song.....

It's about the struggle of capitalism and how we are all sellouts on some level. We elevate money to the highest importance.
