I just saw the movie Passchendaele with UnamedThing and I must say it was a pretty good movie for being made in Canada. The acting was okay and the script could have been a little better. But the movie was presented well. It was more of a love story than a action film but it still was really great.

Anyone else planning to go see this movie?

I was really disappointed by it. The pacing was all over the place, teh dialogue was stilted, and I didn't care for or about any of the characters. I think it would've been much better had they cut out all the cliched drivel that took place in Calgary and just centred the entire film around what was happening in France.

The battle scene itself was rather uninspiring. Honestly, I didn't get any sense of history from it. Although, for a few fleeting moment, I dared actually believe that a Canadian production company could have the gonads to make a war film and not actually pander to the PC crowd, but I was let down. Right on cue, the plucky, sardonic Quebecois and the tough as nails, spiritual native appear. What a load of crap.

I wanted to see it, until I read about how its mainly a love story and not that much war action. How much war scenes are there actually?

What do you mean when you say "...for being made in Canada." We are not some third world nation that just found out about film.
