I haven't seen it, but I'll probably rent it when it comes out.
I still haven't seen Snakes on a Plane, and my plan was to rent that too, guess I didn't care.
I didnt "hate" the film. I mean it was extremely disappointing but how could it not be, the film is proof that no one could ever make an adaptation that is good enough for the graphic novel, but I give Snyder credit for trying and making probably the best adaptation anyone could have made even if it wasn't all that good. Not a horrible film, but nothing special...and being a Watchmen adaptation is should have been very special, it should have been amazing.
I haven't seen either but my mate said Watchmen was crap and had a lot of blue penis in it :?tofu-lion91I seriously don't get the big deal about the penis honestly you hardly even notice it's there, talk about a sexually repressed society. Anyway I thought the movie was great, the start was simply phenomenal although I can understand some people not understanding the plot if they haven't read the comic, I was also slightly disappointed about some of the things they left out but all in all I though it was great, the altered ending also makes more sense, I never really like the original ending in the comic.
[QUOTE="munu9"]I thought it was pretty good, too. And I haven't read the comic either. I don't know why some people think it's badyabbicoke
Well maybe you should read the effing book and find out.
As movie it should be judged individually. It wasn't just made to cater to fans of the book. Having expectation from the book probably gave you somewhat of a bias. Compared to myself, who watched the movie having no expectations (except maybe to see a decent movie) and came out thinking it was pretty good.[QUOTE="Denso-GS"]

Sorry, this makes your opinion on the movie completely invalid.
... No it doesn't :|

Eh, no it doesn't. It actually leaves him less polluted to judge it as a movie in and of itself rather than as an adaptation of a graphical novel. He doesn't know if there are plot elements missing unless they are clearly missingin the context of the film itself.
If he's judging it as an adaptation of the graphical novel, then he'd need to know a lot about that. Otherwise he's in a better position to judge the movie for its own merits.
I enjoyed watching the film much more than I enjoyed reading the comic. Yeah, that's right. I went there.
I enjoyed the movie, definitely. And, I agree with you on your TDK point.ok, am I the only one who thinks that the movie kicked ass ?

I really liked the film. Definitely worth a second gander for me in the big screen anyways. Compared to most adaptations, this movie is one of the more faithful ones to the source material.
It was OK. I enjoyed it but I wouldn't want to see it again.
also I disagree that it was better than TDK. But then I don't think I could place any other superhero movie above that one.

It's interesting to hear what people who hadn't read the novel think since, well, the movie wasn't aimed at you, at all. It's not really supposed to be a stand alone piece in it's own right. Synder seemed to take the role of a messenger when making this movie instead of being an artist in his own right, he never really put his stamp on it or made it anything other than an adaptation. IMO the movie would have worked better (albeit a less faithful adaptation) if they had applied to it more relevant contexts rather than holding onto the novel's outdated cold war fears and satire. As such, it doesn't make nearly as much of an impact as the novel originally did.
From someone who read the novel, I loved the movie. I think Snyder did just about the best job possible of adapting it.
And I liked the ending better. Yeah.
Everyone I know who has seen it LOVED the movie, only about 2 read the comic book and liked the movie but complain about stuff between the two, never really paid attention.
I saw it, and honestly thought it was just 'whatever'. A lot of hype for nothing delivered, it was just stories and flashbacks the entire time to me, not much action. The story was pretty interesting in itself, so that I enjoyed. It was still good.
But, seeing as this is Watchmen being discussed, needs to be said: blue peen. (This is all I was told about the movie when I asked about it before I saw it)
PS, I got the comic book a week before seeing the movie but only read into it a small bit, and haven't noticed really anything worth complaining about which was better yet..
The movie was okay, only because the music was better integrated into the narrative than most movies. I hated the way they changed the ending, though, and felt the script-writers could have done a much better job of fleshing out the characters who get the most screen time (almost 15 minutes on the Comedian's back-story, but only 2 or 3 minutes on Rorschach? Almost criminal).
