I realized the older cartoons had a lot of "double meaning"

My cable operator just put a new channel called tooncast, they show cartoons from the 60-early 2000 like the flinstones, jettsons, atom ant, scooby doo, johny bravo, ed edd and eddy, powerpuff girls and cow and chicken.

well I was watching cow and chicken, and the devil, which im sure was called lucy fernandez (put the name together, I know its pretty obvious) and he said "ok here's a question...there were 5 sisters, batch, betch, butch, botch, whats the name of the last one? (Im from latinamerica, the channel is in spanish, what he says translates into that, im not sure if he said that in the original version)

then I was watching johny bravo, they show up a dark room and johny putting some lotion in his hand, then they show the light of the tv, put sexy music, and johny start making sounds like "oh yeah...thats right babe...yeah....ohhh you little doll" then it turns out its just a commercial for a doll.

then there was a commercial of the powerpuff girls, its some stupid mix, aquaman and wonder woman about to be thrown into some acid pool, then the powerpuff girls arrive and save them, wonder woman says "you girls develop excellenty at being super heroines!" and bubble replies "thanks, one day, we will be as developed as you :D" and then all the guys in the room start laughing and wonder woman grabs her breast as if she was "protecting them" and blushes.

I had seen every one of those scenes when I was a kid, but I never got them till now that I watched the shows again, I know they are pretty obvious, but when I was a kid, they werent

This is probably because parents used to spend time with their children, which meant having to watch cartoons with them. So they put that in to make it a little more bearable. My guess anyway.

A lot of what Warner Bros. Animation put out in the '90s had humor for both adults and kids. Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, and Freakazoid were perfect examples.

A lot of anime in the 80's and 90s had adult themes, too. I say 80s because some of the anime here in the 90's/00s was already out a decade before in Japan.

Nowadays if something like that happened, there would be lawsuits and complaints all over the place. :(

Yeah I remember some like that. It was up til Teen Titans where you could see an innuendo here or there on a show for comedic effect. These days if someone pulls off doing that it's followed by a lawsuit or cancellation.

Because writters/producers were allowed to be creative. Today you say boob on national T.V. and you are the new Ozzy

I recall adventure time has lots of innuendo

The show is still ******** horrible, but there are lots of mature undertones.

CatDog, just watch that.

Also agree with what everyone else said, if cartoons have those adult jokes now, it just gets sued or removed from being shown. Its just stupid, those 80's and 90's cartoons were the best.

If you look up banned pokemon episodes, you'll get the point...

They shouldn't have to take the mature jokes out, kids don't really get it anyways. When I'm watching some of my old movies, there's moments where it's like "Woah. Never caught on to that before :lol:"

I guess it's a good thing we have companies like 4kids around nowadays to protect children for anything deemed violent, like pushing someone on the ground.

4kids is in the same position.

hopefully Funimation will take their place in bringing over the youth anime:D

Hmm, now that I think about it FT about to be brought over by Funimation.

Wonder if that will become the next big youth series like Pokemon, yugioh, Digimon, DBZ, ect

I think it is a strategy which involves to entertain adults as well who have to sit by their kids side and watch those cartoons. But the some cartoons you talked about were amazing. Do keep watching them and enjoy
