So I went for a bit of slippery fun with the other skydivers in my town and had one of the most fun nights in a long time, possibly ever. My palms are a little bit sore and my right elbow has lost a bit of skin, but who cares? I'm gonna take up lessons once the pounds come in again. For those who haven't tried it, I strongly recommend it, even if you fall on your butt most of the time.

Is there anyone else who does it regularly?

I usually play Ice Hockey every weekend at my local Ice Rink. So yeah I skate regularly. Sometimes I just go to the free skating sessions which can be a lot of fun too.

If you just want to buzz around the ice, you shouldn't need lessons. I had no problem learning on the spot at birthday parties back in the day.

It does look really fun! I'd do it, but I'm afraid to break an arm or something!

I'm too nervous that I'd wind up either spraining an ankle, or just flat out break it altogether--came close to doing it twice. If you got the balance and coordination for it, it is fun, though.

Ouch!! You're lucky! Glad you escaped unharmed though! (That sounds a bit dramatic, aha :P)

And very true, you're right :)

Until I took an arrow to the knee.

That's just cause your nervous, when you fall if you relax it isn't sore. You'll get use to it in no time.

I've played hockey all my life so I skate very often :P Once you get used to it, it seems as easy as walking and running.
