I'm so scared now :'( .Basically they said the earth will allign witht the center of the milky way and with some other planets so our planet's poles will shift pretty much killing us :cry:AtrumRegina

There's a supermassive black hole in the centre of the Milky Way...
I call bs on that tv program. :|

Could you find an article online that describes it? I mean, I refuse to believe that aligning with the centre of our Galaxy (this space being occupied by a black hole, by the way) will cause the Poles to shift and kill us all... Without proof, at least.
our planet's poles will shift pretty much killing us :cry:AtrumRegina
The Earth's poles switch naturally every so often. Why would a change in the Earth's magnetism be fatal, especially given that it hasn't been previously?
What's it matter? If such a catastrophe does happen, we'll all be affected the same way.SolidSnake35What if you live exactly on the equator, the poles shifting wouldn't have any affect on you, perhaps!?
Aren't we supposed to all die this year from this thing?AirGuitarist87
Speaking of that, when is the starting sequence finishing? I'd love to see the results...
how does shifting poles kill us?like, every person on the earth tries to pole vault and some emo changes the poles to weak sticks that break and every person on earth dies?the emo dies too because he comes last:PDaSoul
Because planes would crash into the ground, birds would as well. flipping of the poles would pretty much kill us all.
OMFG!!! We're all gonna die!!!!1!
I doubt it'll do that but has any one thought what a giant sales boom this will give to the compus market, they'll be millionares overnight!

Good song. 8)I don't want to die! There's so many things in life that I haven't gotten to do. :(
Like seeing Paris!
What is it with educational channels and the apocalypse lately?A_Tarkovsky
its a trend...and people love to watch those kind of things so it increases their viewers/ratings
Let's see, it happened 10,000 years ago as well and to my knowledge I am still sitting in my computer chair. It won't do anything, not to mention the center of the galaxy is a super-massive blackhole...Saturos3091
I think it happened 25,000 years ago and humans were practically apes back then so...then again it might have killed the dinosaurs .

Humans are still apes. We pretty much know what killed the dinosaurs. It wasn't a pole shift or a geomagnetic reversal. What is this whole galactic alignment thing supposed to be about? If there is a supermassive black hole at the galactic core (and it seems likely that there is), the plane of it's accretion disk would be coterminous with the plane of the Milky Way, meaning that its in-fall emission jets would be flying out at a normal to these planes, not heading outward. Also, the sun and the galactic core and Earth reach an approximate alignment twice a year. This all reminds me of the doomsday shrieking from New Age goons in the late 80's or so of a planetary alignment that occurred back then.xaosThey're still worried about planetary alignment. :P There was a slight planetary alignment the last time there was a lunar eclipse which they cried about, and there's supposed to be another alignment in 2012, but with more planets. I think all of the planets are supposed to be aligned?

That won't happen. I know this. because those aliens... "the gray... welll thats us in a LONG LONG time. IMHO and UFO's aren't from a different planet, but are essentially from.. this planet. and are time machines. :)

Wut?
Aren't we supposed to all die this year from this thing?AirGuitarist87
Nah, the chances of that happening are less than the chances of a flatulence igniting a rogue neutron and creating an explosion that destroys and entire continent. (Some guy in OT worked out the odds with the help of his physics teacher.
