I almost the same way. I only go to huge blockbusters. I have much better home entertainment setup than going to the theaters, ticket prices have become ludicrous, and movies are out on Bluray/Netflix within a few weeks of them coming on to the theaters now.

Need some cheese with that whine.Dylan_11zing lol :P
I haven't been to a movie theatre in years, and don't miss it. I'd rather watch a movie at home in peace and quiet.
I like going to theaters, but they're so damn expensive. And then there are the obnoxious teens who don't know the meaning of "Turn your phone off in the theater", "No talking in the theater", and "No sexual behavior in public places".
DVD and even Blu-Ray don't match the quality, but I like watching movies at home.
Well there ARE good movies out there, if those are the last two good movies you've seen then you're not looking hard enough. I agree about going to theatres though, it's ridiculously overpriced and if you're not sure whether or not you're going to like the movie it gets annoying when you see two or three bad ones (you're not going to find the really good ones without seeing at least a couple stinkers). My advice, rent, it's cheaper. I do like going out to the movies, but until they start to see their profits decline, which doesn't look to be happeneing anytime soon, nothing''s going to be done to lower prices. As long as people are willing to pay ten dollars plus per ticket they'll continue to charge ten dollars plus.
I actually love going to the movies, but it is getting ridiculous how much it's costing nowadays. I took my girlfriend to see Sherlock Holmes and it cost about £5 extra what it would have cost to buy it on Blu-Ray, which would be mine forever.
My friends and I used to go quite a bit, but there isn't much worth paying 10$ for anymore. hockey73I remember when I was growing up tickets were $3-4 and my buddies and I would literally see almost every single movie that was out. Those were the days. You're right, there isn't much worth paying, in my area $15 to see a movie.

What's the point of going on a date to the movies then?
If you can't wait until you take her back to your place, see an unpopular movie or one that everyone has already seen and go to an empty theater.
I stopped going to the movies too.
Saying the reason why will probably get me a moderation.
Let's just say The Pirate Bay is my second favorite site besides GS. ;)
To see the movie with together. If you just want to make out, stay home for free. Hell, a damn prostitute costs less than going to a movie. If I'm paying $30-50 for us to see a movie, we damn well better be watching it.
You're right, there isn't much worth paying, in my area $15 to see a movie. Yah when I was younger, it'd be about 5$ which was more than worth it. Haha I brought my dad to see the X-files movie (ugh it was terrible) a few years back and he hadn't been since like 99. He was in shock at not only the ticket price but the cost of concession goods, like 5 dollars for a coke and another 5 for popcorn.
My friends and I used to go quite a bit, but there isn't much worth paying 10$ for anymore. I stopped going to the movies because of the ticket prices and my overall comfort level (damn floors are damn sticky and there's barely any leg-room). I just wait until movies come out on DVD now - though I hear that time might take longer since companies are complaining that the "short" time to DVD decreases profits significantly.

John usually has a thing of m and m's and my aunt usually fills up, coke, large spa full of popcorn, chips, candy. Its gross lol.
My friends and I used to go quite a bit, but there isn't much worth paying 10$ for anymore. hockey73

Or your could act like a civilized adult and take care of that stuff in private. You have two choices, you can ignore them and focus on the movie, which I would think you would want to do seeing as how you're complainign about being distracted from the movie, or you could prudish and a bit pervy and choose to pay attention to them instead of watching the screen. It's only a distraction if you're paying attention to them.

I don't think I've ever even seen anyone make out in the threaters before so it doesn't distract me. That doesn't make it less distastfull.I remember when I was growing up tickets were $3-4 and my buddies and I would literally see almost every single movie that was out. Those were the days. :o That's insane. The people I go with and I don't mind going to afternoon shows on weekends, and we only have to pay $5 a ticket for those.
I like going to the movies, but I agree with screw iron man2. I hated it, which is weird because I like the first one. Everything seemed over done. Stark was funny in the first one, but they went over the top in 2 and now he is annoying, the main vllian....wtf, who was that supposed to be omega red?
I stopped going but just because I got sick of crying babies and loud ass conversations going on while I was trying to watch the movie.xaosWhenever I go, I always hear an old man snoring. Some old guy always manages to fall asleep in the theater, no matter what movie is playing.

I go during the afternoon also but the ticket is still $11-12.
It's kind of hard to do when they're moaning and saying things somewhere along the lines of "baby" and gorilla noises. Quietly, but I can still hear it.
Movies are way too expensive to watch at teh typical theatre. I'd rather pay that much money for something else.
i only go to the movies 3-4 times a year, too costly but it is awesome. most of the time i just rent a movie
in logic:
going to the movies: tickets: $8 + food $5 (popcorn) + candy soda from 7/11 $ 3 = $16 plus going out to go the movie theater
renting a movie: $1 and just picking up and droping it off
theater < renting movie
